Most of this was pretty painful to watch but the already large amount of respect I have for Brazilian skaters definitely got bigger after watching some of the crust those dudes have to work with.

lot more skating then I expected, liked the little segments with pops and the one of jt skating his highschool hubba. Not something you could watch before skating tho, had stop half way thru and finish later.

It's more the slo mo long lens shots of people holding their boards in the air that you have to stress through.

Multiple slowmo high fives, but a fucking shit ton of slowmo boards in the air and fist pump type things.

The skating was fucked, but I couldn't stop thinking how good it could have been without all the camera gizmos, voiceovers, and slow-mo. The Dew Tour plug was bad too.

If it was filmed with fisheye cameras with traditional parts it would have been so much better.

Clint Walker and Thiago Lemos really stood out for me. Chris Colburn too. Apparently he filmed two parts worth of footage over the course of the production.

It was like all of the worst aspects of Pretty Sweet all rolled into one.

The switch shuvit over one of the walls at Freedom was so sick! And Walker's 50-50/ hill bomb of death.

I heard Moose's part is really sick. Will probably download this today.

I hope we get a World's best dad from the premiere.

Watched it last night.  Definitely worth the $12 to download.  The voice overs were pretty lame and some of the music was crap but overall it was rad to see what a skate video can be like with an unlimited budget.

Overall the film is supposed to be made for skaters and non-skaters.  I think it will likely get some kids into skating if they watch it which is a good thing.

Moose had the best overall footage and it was crazy to see how good Tiago is.  If it's true that the DVD will have a full skate edit, I'm stoked for that as well

anybody wanna make a rough guess at how much of this is quality skating?

Well, the skating is definitely "quality" if you're talking about dudes pushing the bar and not Gino pushing down the street.

Some of the most insane fucking tricks that you see once via a drone flyover or far away steadicam shot that you don't even realize how crazy they are.

The one I'm thinking of in particular is Maxham does a nollie tre flip frontside 5-0 down a decent sized hubba. At least I think that's what I saw. Happens real quick, but is fucking gnarly.

The first few parts of the video were slow to me, but the China part is where it really picks up. Crazy skating. Clint does this frontside tailslide up a ledge to frontside flip out into the banked side of the ledge that is pretty sick. Hard to explain but definitely dope. Boo Johnson, Tiago Lemos, Jordan Maxham, Chase Webb all do some seriously sick shit.

however, if you're asking for a ratio of "minutes of video-to-amount of quality skating", I'd have to guess like 65% of it is quality skating, the other 35% is just p-rod waxing poetic.

Not a video for your "daily stoke" but definitely full of bangers or hammers or bingers or whirly-birds or whatever.

Do people have parts in it?

Or is it just a montage of skaters in different cities?

Tiago Lemos!!!

Kind of want to see the video just to see his stuff. When they were in Birmingham, I got to witness him do some insane shit. Also, he was super nice and was approaching everyone he ran into.

Everyone here is taking crazy pills. This movie is unbearable. Couldn't figure out if it was trying to be a movie or a IMAX skate video. Starts out with a staged shot of P-Rod getting hit by a car  ??? ???  "We see things differently". DRONES.

Bottom line: at least it had a slam section?

The inevitable result of Ty's direction.  I guess if anyone was going to make that kind of film Ty was the best guy for it?
The Tiago Lemos footage made it worth while, so unbelievably good.

I wonder if anyone will ever make a really good feature length film set in the skateboarding world, like Street Dreams and Lords of Dogtown hahahah.

The way that darkslide was done made me not like it even though it was kinda sick.

never been a ty fan but the dubia part was sick. seems like the audience wasn't core but really so what. had some interesting use of drones. seems like there will be a lot more of that kind of thing in a few years.

i feel the only way it would work is if it took like a "Kids" sort of world view but focused more on the skating, or a washed up guy trying to cope like The Wrestler. Things that try to glorify it usually come out pretty cheesy. I'm sure if the right people got behind it a great movie could be made about the EMB scene or the mid-90's new york scene (which kids captured but took to an extreme).

Pretty much as bad as you would expect.
Skating is gnarly, but skating is gnarly in every big vid so what.
Music sucked,
montage vibe gets boring after one song,
80% of filming ended up detracting from the trick just to look more movie like - which in part is kinda ripping the skaters off,
worst part imo the fisheye on the camera looks like an absolute joke it doesn't make shit look big and distorts everything in the wrong way - people end up looking like aliens and it's almost nauseating.

Worth a watch to see what skating can look like through an expensive lense and through the eyes of someone who doesn't give a fuck about skating, but definitely not worth price of download. The mountain dew product placement throughout is fucking insane.

ps almost forgot also worth a watch for Tiago pop, tricks and style DAMN

In the trailer P-Rod had taken on some lame Rob Dyrdek 'quasi' epic tone.
I'm guessing the film is even worse.

I promise I will never watch this soccer mom production

Before you say the music sucked, have you considered shutting the fuck up?

Top quality skating.

This right here. I really liked it. Overall some heavy shit from dudes I don't normally go out of my way to see. Jordan Maxham is really good. I also rewatched Omar's speed line in the beginning a few times. All he's doing is carving, but the way it's shot it feels like you're hauling ass next to him. And talk about spot porn. Man oh man there are some beautiful spots throughout.

EDIT: HD also shows you in vivid detail the physical price some of these cats paid to get tricks. There is a nasty slam section.

it sounds like something that could be easily parodied. someone should make one with over the top narration and crazy camera work. "every second of skateboarding is like a second in a mixed-martial arts ring. skateboarding is a brutal and punishing sport. they do it for the glory, for the fame, and for the sense of satisfaction that comes from landing an insane trick. are you ready to bleed for skateboarding? 'cause if you're not, you might as well not even start."
