Damn the co-main got scrapped? Cyril Gane is 1 to watch in that shit division. The Thomas Almeda fighting should be good, had an excellent KO run before being slept by Cody Garbrant.

Not followed MMA as closely since I came back to skateboarding since the cards are on Sunday morning (Asia time zone) and I'm out skating then. I still catch the main and co-main when I can while listening to Jack Slack or Heavy Hands podcast for the recap.

Zombie oddly wasnít his self after the spinning elbow from Ortega. Not that brawling fight I was looking for but happy for T City. He should fight Max next before Volk. Seems right to redo that fight before he gets the title shot.

Max definitely looked like he lost a step, Poirier laid down a ferocious beating on him. Though I did think he won the rematch with Volk.

Love a good brawl,

Lamas vs Holloway
Korean Zombie vs Yair Rodriguez
Pettis vs Ferguson
Adesanya vs Gastelum
Weilli v Joanna
Aldana v Vieira
Masvidal v Till
Yair v Stephens
Costa v Romero

thinking about the sheer will and commitment gives me chills. But I do prefer a more technical bout, technical dominations even

Holloway v Volkanovski 2
Sandhagen v Moraes
O Malley v Wineland
Garbrandt v Assuncao
Costa v Adesanya

What a ďsportĒ. I canít even believe itís legal sometimes. Sucks that the UFC is such a sham but i canít get enough, regardless

Iíve watched around half of those but Iíll check out the ones I have not.
I kinda want Justin to win tomorrow but I really donít think Khabib is going to lose.
Khabib is fighting for his dad who recently died but Justin is equally fighting for his parents as well.
Hope it goes 5 rounds.

How Khabib forces the wrestling exchanges will determine the outcome of the fight. In the past Gaethje has fought off takedowns and always scrambled up quickly, but he always looks incredibly winded each time he return to the feet (see Alverez and Poirier fights). He too has acknowledged that the wrestling aspect of MMA saps his gas tank, hence he avoids during his fights. If Khabib can continually chain wrestle Gaethje and draw him into deep waters, it's going to be a very shitty night for Gaethje.

That said, Khabib does his best takedowns when his opponent has his back along the cage, his wrestling is less potent in open space (see Round 3 of the McGregor fight). Gaethje will need to use his pivots to avoid getting driven to the cage when Khabib rushes in. Even better if he can keep the offensive initiative on Khabib and force him backwards, Khabib is not as strong a defensive wrestler when put on his back foot (again see Round 3 of the McGregor fight).

If you guys listen to podcasts check out Fights Gone By by Jack Slack and Heavy Hands, all hosts were former contributors on Bloody Elbow and Vice's Fightland to get a flavor of what to expect this weekend.

Khabib said heís willing to try 100 take downs so idk just how much Justin can hold him off.
When Khabib flight Conor, in that third round Khabib made the choice to stand up with him for the most part.
At some point during the fight they are talking shit to each other and donors says something like, youíre scared to standup with me, so Khabib said okay round three letís do it and Khabib lost that round.
I donít think thereís any way heís going to play that game with Justin, even for just 1 round.

Wow that ended quickly and decisively. Didn't watch it live but I've been off MMA for a few months ever since I started skating more. Khabib retiring is big and leaves with a high note with his record intact. Shame the Ferguson fight never happened that will go down in history as one of the biggest missed bouts in this era of MMA.

I ended up leaving work early and was able to watch the last 3 fights.
Robert showed that he deserves another chance against Izzy. Khabib fucking owned and I also felt like crying just imagining all the emotion he was feeling without his dad being alive now.
Iím glad he retired, Khabib is the best.
I donít think Khabib vs Tony needed to happen, itís just so highly unlikely that tony would have had the answer to beating khabib. Everyone thinks they can stay off the fence but they never do.
Justin was throwing some wild ass dynamite punches in the first round but Khabib is just too good.
I guess Iím slightly bummed that him vs GSP wonít  happen because I feel like gsp is the only one who could have the real potential to win, even with being out of the game for a few years.
Side note: the down side to me leaving work early is that I left because my wife is sick and might have covid.

I have a video of the last two min of Anderson vs Uriah, if anyone wants to see it, I can message on Instagram.
Spoiler:
I really wanted Anderson to go out with a win.
He was winning the fight, won the first two rounds, was winning the third round until he got dropped during the last ten seconds. Then the next round Uriah put it down. Uriah has some great power but I donít think he will every be champ.

Bruce Buffer was showing him lots of love during his intro announcement.

I watched this 2nd fight with Weidman live on TV and the injury turned my stomach and ruined my day. He was savage and unreal in his prime, rearranging Rich Franklin's face and manhandling Forrest Griffin like a dad wrestles his son.

If you ever need a laugh the Forrest Griffin interview on a potential rematch with Anderson Silva is gold:

Great to see I'm not the only one who likes to skate as well as enjoy MMA on the down time. I'm pumped for this weekends card on ABC. Max vs Kattar should be a good one. Hoping for a Max win but Calvin will give him the business I bet.

After seeing what happened to Tony in his last fight I really hope we don't see a repeat with Max. Shows just how tough FW and LW, former champs and possible GOAT candidates bested by younger fighters who on top of being great technically can make adjustments mid-fight; countering the counter.

Yep, Moreno v Figureido was amazing. That fight had everything. I watched Sandhagen v Moraes like 100 times last year though, such a beautiful performance.

Excited for Holloway v Kattar. It was hard to watch Holloway lose his title the 1st time and the  rematch was amazing but just too close to call. I do think he gets by Kattar though, decisively

I just saw the face off today on IG and it looks like Max is taller but it seems they are the same height. Katter has a longer reach too but I had no idea he was 32 and Max is 29. I so think the 5 round fight could lead to Max winning in the long run. Hopefully that chin is still solid cause he's never been ko'd before.

Make some good money on that?

Poirier vs Mcgregor rematch should be a banger. Poirier has improved so much since that loss and even went 5 rounds with Holloway for the interim belt, but I have a sneaking suspicion he will get stuck in his head during the rematch.
