That Tony knockout actually made me sad last night.  It was just so brutal.  Tony was actually looking really good in the first round, and I thought he was probably going to take Chandler into deep waters and beat him.  I hope he retires because he has taken a lot of damage in his career.

The Rose fight was horrible.  I can't believe she thinks she won that shit.  She barely landed any strikes, and got one take down at the end.  One of the worst fights in UFC history.

Olives is incredible.  It's crazy how his opponents always hurt him, but are terrified to follow up with strikes on the ground because of how good his jujitsu is.  Then he somehow lands a crisp shot and changes the tide of the fight.  Charles also avoided those Gaethje leg kicks really well.

Here's a link to the fight if anyone wants to rewatch

Esparza getting her title bag in 2022 is wild, if she rematches Joanna I doubt the outcome will be different.

Yeah I was leaning towards her too but it was so close I wouldn't argue either way. Definitely feel you on the air combos too, it seems like she goes into autopilot for long stretches in some fights and it costs her.

Chidi is a bad motherfucker. That elbow over the top was textbook.

Chase Hooper is going to be a serious, serious problem if he puts on some muscle and learns to trust his striking. That was one of the craziest grappling fights I've seen in a while and it was rad as fuck. He's like 30% snake DNA or something, he straight up squeezed the fight out of dude like a Python.

I feel like it takes Holly a long time to calm down and settle in. All those flurries look like desperation moves. Then the 4th comes and she’s starts working her combos with her legs and hands and starts doing damage.
I’d skin my knee and palms so bad on my buddy’s jump ramp with that thing.

I feel like that happens sometimes with fighters who come from high level boxing backgrounds...they straddle the line between being patient and lacking a sense of urgency a little too much and just naturally fall into the sparring/workout or point fighting kinda mindset instead of always looking for the finish right away. Thats not as big of a deal when you have 10-12 rounds to work with and the judging criteria is pretty well established, but in MMA you always have to worry about Sal D'Amato or Chris Lee. Not that boxing doesn't have its share of awful judging (looking at you Adelaide Byrd), but it seems like in MMA there's at least one fight on every show that ends up with a controversial decision and we have to see it again. Unfortunately I feel like that's probably what will happen here.

I had Holly ahead or even in every round except the one she temporarily turned into a cherry tomato. I forget what the exact stats were but I think she had almost double the significant strikes (though a ton of them were leg kicks). There's just no way I can give Viera that fight, though I'd grumble but not really argue with a draw.

No doubt, I still had holly winning that fight but she just doesn’t look good in the early rounds most of the time. I feel like she is extremely nervy even with all the experience she has.

I don't want to see Robbie Lawler fight anymore, age has really caught up to him. Watching his fights in Strikeforce, MacDonald 1 & 2, Hendricks 1 & 2 and Matt Brown turned me from a casual to hardcore MMA fan. He was never the same after the Woodley KO, and I hate Woodly for that, even though he was slowing down prior.

Max is my favorite fighter but if there is anything I know about watching MMA is your favorite fighter will always lose and in fine fashion sometimes. It’s a bummer but he’s solidified himself has a future hall of famer.

Damn you Volk for being so good at your job, didn't watch it live but Max was gushing like a sieve, his shorts were stained red.

Looks like we're headed for Izzy vs Alex Pereira.

Farewell Cowboy, his late career resurgence was fun but I'm happy Jim Miller got to return the favor.

Cowboy did give us an all time great striking combo, that's some Tekken shit.

i wonder if his big toenail cut dom’s gum, shit was in there deep if you look at the photo. cruz looked really good for the first few rounds, some would argue he was up 2-1 if not 3-1 up until that moment. he still should be regarded as the greatest bantamweight of all time thus far & inducted into hall of fame as soon as he retires. his foot work & combos throughout that fight, especially at his age were impressive to say the least. chito just holds too much power.

Agreed. His career at bw is incredible, an absolute legend.
Chito has that touch of death at 135.

And also love Dom doing the most San Diego thing ever, aka getting your ass kicked in your hometown

Excuse the shitty music, but the Rockhold's last fight was a great farewell. He's been a meme for the tail end of his career, and proved to be a dick on numerous occasions but there's no denying that he was one of the scariest fighters for a brief stretch of time before the Bisping KO. Always love a good blood and guts performance.
