In the early 90's pros got virtually nothing for being pro, and some of the best footage of all time came from that era. Less money in skateboarding weeds out the people trying to suck it dry, the cookie-cutter companies, and the douchebag pros.

companies have been selling boards for such a long time, and during that time shops have also sold blank/shop decks, so why all the fuss now? who the fuck cares if someone only skates shop boards or blank boards, or when someone buys a blank because they don't have enough for a pro model - if companies are that desperate and in need of board sales, fucking sell the decks for less, instead of jacking up the price another 10-25$ with your "Organic reinforcements" and your "Nev-R-Break boards."

This shows how disconneted the pros and industry in general are with skaters. Most skaters I know are broke as shit and ride blanks because they have too. Also most skaters I know ride pro decks when they can afford it.

that thing pisses me off to no fucking end. Like I'm in a financial situation where I can barely afford what I need, let alone the "flair" they speak of on that site. What happened to being stoked on kids just skating? And also with the popularity of skateboarding these days, board sales are probably much higher then they have been in the past. They need to quit their bitching.

wait? so professionals are the only ones that progress skateboarding? isn't that sort of a ridiculous statement?

there are plenty of towns out there that are completely disconnected from the "industry" and have unknown rippers who are progressing the local scene.

if anything, most of the professionals out there doing their 'beauty-ads' for whatever company is "paying the bills" because "at least he's getting paid" are hindering skateboarding instead of helping it progress

why dont all the distributors/manufacturers lower their price?if they did wed buy more boards form them. instead the profit margins on a shop deck make a lot more sense.... less pros would weed out the ones that are milking it right now anyway.... how many more ollies or 180's or lipslides do we need to see to make it apparent that its time to step aside form having a "pro" model... pro=produce.

Real skateboarders who aren't still being supported by their Mom and Pop don't have money to waste on 60$ pro boards. You can save almost 30$ by getting a blank or shop board. 30$ goes a long way when your poor.
