Awesome interview!

I'm breaking in my third pair of Busenitz. Been wearing the Lucas Premier ADV and the Busenitz' cup feels like there is a wedge in there boosting up my heal compared to the Lucas'. Busenitz for chilling as they pretty much look like the Samba anyway, Lucas' for skating now.

Booze-n-Tits is a real man's man. A skater's skater. I wish I liked his shoes more. The idea of making a soccer cleat into a skate shoe is interesting, I see kids skating indoor soccer shoes a lot. Great interview, props to all involved.

Really well done Art. That read like the interesting conversation I'm sure it was. Great read and great work!

EDIT: None of that would've worked if Art didn't know his shit the way he does about Adidas shoes. Not too many other people could've done that.

I was also shoe-nerding out reading stuff like this:

Quote
Oh, and the sample toe was a little too tight and the way Danny corrected that was by taking out a little bit of the sole, so that?s why it?s thinner in the front. Other than that, I don?t remember any other big improvements.

agreed, I loved it!

What are your Top Five skate shoes of all time, from any brand? In no particular order.
The ES Accel. The ES Koston. Vans Half Cab. Vans Rowley, the first one. I only have one left, shit, better make it good. This might be a weird one, but I liked skating it when I was a kid?the Jeremy Wray Dukes shoe. Jeremy Wray wore it and he ripped, and I had fun wearing it pretending to be Jeremy Wray.
FUCK YES!!!! Booze knows what's up (his other 4 choices were on point too)

Same here, other than the laces blowing out fast, the Busenitz pro is a great shoe.

Was not a fan of the ADV model. Like the Janoksi for Nike, the Busenitz will be a staple shoe for the brand.

Maybe it's too late, but Adidas should retro the red and blue Busenitz Gazelle.

Exactly what shoe came to mind. I guess he never saw any early mike mo footage.

Also vans xl2 and Greco 2's were also good

thanks Pals. ? it was a very selfish interview in the sense that I just asked what I've always wanted to know about Busenitz and his shoes, video parts, whatnot. ? it's not often you get the chance to talk to one of your all-time favorites...but talking to him was as easy as talking to any other 30+ skateboarder...you could hear the earnest of his answers in his voice. ? a real class act.

one of my favorite parts was:

Speaking of details like that, I remember someone on the Slap Forums (i.e. Eranka) took apart the Busenitz ADV and it had secret messages in it. It said “Gary Headlock Forever” and “No Bozos” underneath a layer inside the sole.

That was Danny Kinley. That wasn’t my personal message, but I got a kick out of that. Apparently, shoe companies take apart each other’s shoes to look at them and see what’s going on and it was them fucking with each other…just having a laugh. I don’t know what I would put in there.

we also talked about the "666" Watson found in a pair of Busenitz pros... but it was edited out for length. ? Basically, we were both trying to figure out whether that was a designer's message or maybe just so happened an inspector at the factory has the privilege of being "Inspector 666".
