Wish the 288s, 440 and 913 had a pointer toe box like jamie foy's shoe
[close]

I would not call the 306 pointy at all! it is quite round with a very slight taper.

It is a good shoe for those with wider feet but I would not get another pair, not nearly enough cushioning for me and I generally do not like vulc shoes.

Will not be buying anything but cupsoles from now on, waiting for those Tiagos!!

yeah that shape looks good. Def not pointy. You tried the 440 or 913?

This is the first and only NB numeric I've tried...

Other than the lack of cushioning, the 306 is a good shoe, comfortable, durable, skates well.

I was interested in the 913 or 533 but will be waiting for Tiago 1010 now, also cuz he is my fav pro!!

I meant the 913 and 440 had sort of a squared off toe, whereas the 306 is smoothly tapered all around.

anyway the 288s is, for me the best so far from nb. only shoe from them I've been able to skate decently well right from the first session. Think I could get down with this one long term, finally.

well done lads

Just got some 440s and they fit really good. Nice and snug to the foot. For a low cut shoe on the narrow-ish side, I'm surprised by how stable they feel. Wasn't sure if I was gonna skate them but quite tempted now.

Steve needs to learn how to lace. Probably why he had so many problems with the shoe. Just kidding about the latter, but seriously Steve. Learn to lace bro

I've never had a pair of NB, but I'm actually looking at some 288s now. Can get them from the site for $66 after tax. I have no idea how their sizing is though. I'm between a 10-10.5 with slightly wide feet.

Best shoe I’ve skated. The toe cap rips from the stitching but a great shoe

213's are a bit thin on the upper, it's a mid top but not a bulky mid on the upper.  If you're very used to cupsoles, this isn't going to give you a lot of cushion compared to a cup...that's just the reality of vulc vs cup.  I like thinner shoes and will switch back and forth between vulcs (Foy's sometimes) and cups (288s and 440's are my go to).  We do have a cupsole hi-top coming down the road later this year but not til the Holiday season.

I'm a solid 11.5 and that's exactly what I wear in the 288s.  I always trend towards making sure your shoes aren't too small, so maybe go with the 10.5 in those.  I wouldn't say I have wide feet but mine are flat as hell and 288's feel perfect for me.

The sole on the 212s blew out in 2 weeks for me. Upper is great tho but what's the point if the sole isn't. I'm waiting for the tiagos, i need a cupsole. For some reason i blow out every single pair of vulcs i have in weeks.

james brown on the set ups?  luv the 212.

was thinking about the awesome potential and utter failure of the 598's.

would like to see a reboot on a 420ish sole which would make it even truer to the 998, suede on that sole not 3 flicks=done/never gets supple synthetic might be sweet.

and maybe not running a full two sizes too small as well.

Those were a great looking shoe

Not sure why NB# dropped them

598's just never caught on and once we launched the 440 on the same sole unit, it just made that shoe irrelevant.  But they were pretty proper for skating.

It was nice they put a cupsole on that normally vulc (I think) shoe for that one colorway. Trahan deserves a pro shoe.

Very much agree with this. I rolled my ankle super bad and am looking for a cupsole high top for when I come back, and the options right now are so slim. It's basically Blazers, Dunks, Adidas Shell Toes, and the new Vans Crocket. Seems wild there aren't more.

Not sure how many are still available but there is an Adidas Rivalry OG Hi (Black/Yellow/Green) Na Kel colorway that came out earlier this year. Converse Rival Hi. Those are a couple other skateable options until the NB# cup high comes out. Which, I'm also pining over and will likely buy when it drops!
Also, there's a number of non skate shoe high tops cupsoles that would probably skate just as good as most skate shoes out right now. Adidas, Converse, and Reebok all have some. Apologies if you already looked into those, though.

hate to break it to you but the blazers are vulcanized

I like that they have enough padding and shape to them so they don't have that shitty chuck Taylor look that a lot of high-mid canvas vulcs do

Crocketts are a very slim sole as well. Even though it's a different construction than a regular Vans vulc, I had a pair and found they didn't feel much different under my feet.

*EDIT: I had the lows, not the highs, but they're both the same sole construction.

I had the old 250 which i can imagine is worse than these but it was still a great shoe. skated like a true vulc should
