I always through the 868 was Westgate's unofficial first pro shoe on NB. Great looking shoe, rocking them as chillers and I'll skate them when I'm done with the current pair of 1010s.
[close]

Please don’t bring up the 868, I regret not getting that shoe, it’s basically everything I needed

i regret only getting one pair. shit was bulletproof.

hey, NB#!

Time for another release of those!

I got 3 pairs off some one on Slap a year back, 1 was worn but almost new, the other 2 were brand spanking new in the red + grey and cream + grey colorways. Took a gamble and went 1/2 a size up since weartested and everyone on Slap said NB was in their weird sizing phase.

I hope the foam and glue lasts in my tropical climate, if not I'd be a sad panda.

How does Nb size, especially 1010 ? Compared to Nike for example I’m a size 10, I find Nike quite narrow even with thin feet. My asics are more roomy, I even went to 9.5 on Japan pro

Go for 10 in your case.

Btw is Cairo working at NB#? He's on Madrid and it matches with the video premiere in there.
It would be dope to have him on the brand.

Actually it’s Cairo Montgomery we’re asking about.   That mistake happens a lot!

With the intervals video coming up it got me thinking about how both Tiago and westgate both have 2 pro model shoes and Jaime having only the 306. Will foy ever get a 2nd pro shoe? Or does the 306 sell so well it wouldn’t make sense to add another one to the line. Just random thoughts
[close]

Tiago has the 1010 and the 808 and Westgate only has the 508 I think? The 306 is the bestseller, I see a lot of non skaters wearing these. I also like them for chilling but the toe shape doesn't work for me personally for skating in them.
[close]

Westgate had an original model … 978 maybe or maybe I’m just giving him a MA area code

Foy has had a slip on version, if that counts for anything, but it is their best seller and if he wants to keep skating it and sales stay up, I guess why mess with it.   Busenitz rode his first adidas for a long time as did Kenny Anderson’s first Adio
[close]

Wish they would do a cupsole foy model, like throw it on top of the 600 sole or something, I do like one piece toe cap cupsoles, I had these circas back in the cut that Walker Ryan wore a bunch, did some pretty good skating in those

I’ve been saying this for awhile now. A 306 cup would be godlike. I love the upper, but I got old ass feet and vulcs hurt after awhile. Foy’s been skating 480s lately in addition to his shoe. I’d fuck with a Foy upper on a 480 sole. I’ve not skated the 600s, so no opinion there. They could call it the 603 and just sew the 306 on upside down. Haha

480's sole got me questioning if my heels are way wider than most. Those things feel tall at the heel and tip over so easily. I almost wrecked myself just walking in my pair. Can't imagine skating em.

They def have a thick sole that is thickest towards the heel. I've always worn my shoes a lot before skating them, but these shoes in particular really benefit from a long break in period. They feel less chunky after a while.

I felt the same on the 480 initially. I don’t know if wearing them to work somehow compressed the sole or I just got used to them but I’ve been skating them finally and they feel really good and not tippy.

Front of my shins got sore too getting used to the heel to toe difference from the 1010 to 480.

Gives me some hope. I really like the thickness of the sole just the edge of the heel feels very harsh. Might even try grinding them down if wearing them in more doesnt do it.

I have same issue as you, 1010s feel far more stable and less tippy. Still skated two pairs though. Not ideal for me for sure, replacing the stock insole helped. Did roll my ankle once in them though.

Decent shoes but only if you have narrow feet and aren't worried about ankle rolls

Is it ok to buy without trying ? Nike I wouldn’t think twice but I never had NB & my locals don’t have 1010 :/

Best if you could try them in store, all Nike shoes (skate / running) have fit narrow for me and with the Blazer being the exception.

With the 1010 you're safe to go TTS if you want a perfect fit and ready to skate right out of the box. Downside is they stretch out towards the end of the life of the shoe and I need to lace up to the top loop and the tongue doesn't puff out nicely. Going 1/2 size down is painful for the first few sessions but they remain snug even 4 months in.

I could go half a size down if I spent a few days walking around in them to stretch them out,

Thanks a lot ! I may get TTS as I feel that I won’t find any 1010 around me anytime soon. The idea would be a soft start post injury - comfy with shock absobtion. I just hope I won’t get bad boardfeel or super roomy shoes that I can’t skate 😅

The 306 is one of New Balance’s best selling shoes of all time, across all catalogs.

I would guess we will see some different iteration at some point. Kinda like Nike SB did with the Janoski

Btw is Cairo working at NB#? He's on Madrid and it matches with the video premiere in there.
It would be dope to have him on the brand.

Cairo as in Cairo Foster? He's been working at Crocs as of recently
Yup, Cairo Foster.
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

440 v2 insoles.

Anyone had any luck with after market insoles on these. I ordered a pair of the NB/Superfeet arch support insoles but the carbon fiber piece on the bottom was too wide to fit in the shoe and not able to be trimmed like the toe section. I need some arch support but not like the FP gamechangers where it felt like standing on a tennis ball.

I trimmed some of the flat FP insoles. I think they were the medium thickness. They are almost the exact height as the new balance 440v2 insole. They have been good to my feet.

I tried a few superfeet yesterday and the flex thin was similar to the height of the stock ortholite. The heel is slightly higher but seemed not excessive, at least on 1010. So much more support than the stock ortholite, can’t wait to try

been skating the v2 with some Remind Boo johnson insoles. They felt great with light skating (arch still feels a litte high somehow), but the other day I actually popped more than usual and now my arches are sore as fuck up to the ball of my feet

could be me baby-ing my feet for a while, but the insoles feel great in the 440 v2 while youre skating

ps

just remembered I walked around the MET for hours in 1010's the next day so my assessment may be inaccurate

Lol. Eldee is definitely a human. He’s like a raider on horse back who’s kinda scared to do battle. Somehow he closes his eyes and swings his sword wildly and wakes up in a pile of dead orcs.
