Perennial question about any new synthetics in the pipeline?
[close]

yelling it again for the folks in the back, @mini greek @rothdigga
[close]

you think they're ignoring us or not seeing these inquiries? more synths please
[close]
Not ignoring at all!  I just got back from a 3 day tradeshow so I haven't been on here much.  Gotta ask the design team when the next synth is, we usually have 1-2 a year for you guys.  Give me a sec to check with them.

Anyone got eyes on the 440v2 high WIDEs? I've the low wides and the high non-wides and I can't bring myself to skate the hi-non wides (size 10.5, just worn inside a few times, HMU if interested). @rothdigga any chance we'll seen a synthetic high like the 440 wide (blk/olive)?
[close]
I don't think we have any vegan/synth hi's coming soon but let me verify first.

@rothdigga next synthetic vegan-but-NB-cant-technically-call-them-vegan options on the horizon?
[close]
That new NM440VBS is the newest one if you want to search it out.  After that, I would have to look to see what's next coming after it but it'll be a 272 again maybe?  I'll see what i can find out.
[close]
These stall tactics can only go on for so long Jason, haha. Just tell us there's nothing coming and we'll stop asking and move on to buy something else
[close]
Just to follow up on the synthetic talk, I had to re-order the NM440VBS recently just to get some stock in of a vegan option for everyone.  That's just a stopgap one for us until we have a new 440 vegan colorway but that's not until 2026.  So...440VBS re-stock coming around Aug (I know, not as soon as some would like) then a new vegan 440 in Q1 2026.  My guess is that I will re-stock 440VBS one more time before the end of 2025 to make sure there's enough carryover for those who need it.
Hope that helps!
[close]
@rothdigga I see the 440V2 synthetics are in Joes NB outlet now. Is that re-stock still happening?
My restock has been cancelled/did not go through like 2 times now!  Bit of an ongoing issue that I don't know why it happened.  I think the broken size run ended up at Joe's.  Our next synth shoe doesn't drop until Jan of the next 440 so we will probably have to wait until that hits.  I'm not sure if it was a materials thing that my orders kept getting blocked but I think that might be the case.  Apologies as I was really trying to re-stock those for everyone that needed them.

When do the black and gum Reynolds come out? Boss has been wearing them in all the recent ig postings.

Start of October I think along with the other tri-tone colorways

Edit:  I really like that the original posters for the 933 gave a preview for the colorways for the year.   I wish that would be a thing that continued on in some capacity because it doesn’t seem like it spoiled much for the masses and it let the people who probably are more obsessive know when/how to pace themselves

Big miss on those 770s. Toe box looks good, but everything else looks off. Like it's trying too hard to be a skateable trainer silhouette

Personally I’m finding NB to have the best quality in terms of just fit and construction. I only just started skating some 440’s now so I can’t speak on how well they hold up. NB’s seem to be far more rigid than most Nike SB’s and I can’t even get into adidas shoes for the most part. Most of their shoes are just an upper glued onto a milk crate outsole. Adidas have this illusion of quality imo

I found that to be the case with the (highly overpriced) Superskate. The Tyshawn is solid with a beefy midsole. Those are the two I've owned/skated. Yet, both are missing one key feature: tongue centering straps. Like, it can't break the bank to add them and they're extremely useful. People love the Busenitz cup and I still have the Pro Model on my radar so I haven't written Adidas off entirely.
The 440s hold up well for me considering how cheap they can be had. I had several of the v1s. About to send my first pair of v2s to the graveyard. That'll be the shoe I skate til I die. Goat shoes.

At first glance the 770 reminds me of the Jordan 4 RM. The little alt logo is a nice touch but that sole is crazy, the front half looks like some winterized DVS but the back half looks like a 574. Weird mishmash shoe. Wild tongue label

First I was like the 770 is a hoax but yeah, ok, I kinda get what they are getting at here and for sure there's a demographic for that, but as shoes are hella subjective, those look like someone prompted AI for a "gimme an early 2000s skate shoe with some modern runner vibes oh and make it look like ass".

Hats off for daring to venture into unexpected territory, though.

Apparently it’s a skatified trainer from the 80s and 90s.   Posts are going up about it, looks good on foot.  Not as bulky as I thought it might be.   NBs always feel nice and wide, so that thinner heel half doesn’t bother me the way it kinda did on the Silas 2s

on the fence about these but i think they'll grow on me.....no shoe i need the second it drops, but these could turn out cool.
on insta today i saw some pics of a possibly upcoming white colorway.

they are the closest we will get to a skateable 550 so far.

i really like the 770 for the trainer style it's got. Reminds me of all the cross trainer shoes from the early 90's, like the bo jackson and avias that were popular.

I'm not crazy about the first two colourways (especially not the black/white ones), but the 770 looks like a great design to me. Full length midsole and tongue-centering straps (which we're always looking for on Slap), and it just looks stable and cushioned, and truly like something different from the rest of the skate shop shoe wall right now. I think I read that the forefoot is a lower density foam than the heel, which is a really interesting idea for improving flexibility. A lot of skate shoes add flexibility there by just using very little or no foam, which usually makes the shoe unwearable for me. This feels like a way to maintain the cushioning while adding functionality.

Before I knew it was an early 90's tennis/cross training shoe; the sole immediately reminded me of Nike Air Trainer 1's, which a lot of people skated, but I didn't think were ideal as a skate shoe, mainly due to the strap. NB# doesn't rely heavily on skate-ified archival designs, but the 600 and 480 are both those, and those are my favourite shoes of theirs.

I'd love to see some white ones with bright coloured accents (leaning into that early 90's tennis style), or some kind of hiking-inspired brown/beige. I'm excited to see these in person and try them on. Might go for the grey/purple ones if the stars align just right.

Fongstarr.
