How is the heel slip on these? My older 480s won't stay on my feet to save my life. Also interesting that you mention to half-size down, wondering if that would help although not sure I have the length to lose.

Yea the 480 is a bit roomier in the toe than what I’m used to skating (gel vickka, NB508) is why I said go a half size down, this pair also has tongue straps, and I yoke the shit out my laces, I remember when the 1010s dropped everyone was having issues with heel slip, the pairs I skated I didn’t have that problem, if your able I’d try them on and see how the half size down fits

A shoe stretcher is your best friend with the 933. The length was true to size but the width was rediculously narrow, even the "wides". I put my shoe stretchers in them twice for 12-24 hours each time. Now they are amazing.

A first look at the no comply 480s. This is the second 480 collab my local has done and I’m liking this one more. They’re also doing a demo next Saturday to support. First 480s I’m planning on getting since that original brown reynolds colorway.

Those look good! I have the first No Comply 480. I love the looks and the comfortable materials used, but the sole is crazy slippery compared to all the other 480s I have had.

Weird, I felt that the pair I tried on felt pretty comparable to the pair I own but I only tried it on. I plan on getting these so I can report back on the sole. The heel on 480s in general were always a bit narrow and tall for skating so I generally just use the pair I have for chillers.

I got a promo pair to show off to the Slap community, they come with three pairs of laces, flat ones, ovals, and the “rope” pair, gum sole ain’t gonna let you slip around, I wear thick cotton socks when I skate, so I went TTS, I feel like most people will want to size down a half size, they are a lil tall in the heel area, but I think I’ll be able to manage, materials are super nice, suede already feels broken in, there’s a hit of denim on the back heel with no comply stitched onto it, velvet stash pocket, paisley and tie dye throughout, seriously hyped on these, great colorway and the story behind them is cool

Same here. Had highs and lows and they never became my skate shoes. Sadly, because I really want to like them.

But to be fair, they were all pretty early 480s,
so if they changed them I can’t talk about the newer ones.

I’m just wondering, I used to like to skate this kind of cup sole. Is it something that’s just better in my memory and in in reality I’m now spoiled by newer and better shoes? For example the 1010 facelift fits me like a glove and maybe I’m used to that and the anti ankle roll heel in the 1010 too. And this makes the 480 feel that way in contrast.

Anyone else have that thought?

I just finished my first pair of 480 hi Abd loved them. No ankle issues and I’m a chronic roller. Only complaint was the to box became super floppy in the last stages of skating the shoe. Will skate another pair.

My opinion from trying on /owning most of these:

N - 600, 306C, 1010, 770 - W

770 is the only one I've yet to try on/own, so I'm guessing by looks. The rest were tried or owned.

It seems pretty split down the middle, whether people feel like they're skateable. So that makes me feel a bit better.

My dentist said I have a higher sensitivity to feeling very small nuances on my teeth than his other patients.. chips, fillings ect, so maybe that translates to feet somehow. Maybe some people are less sensitive to how a shoe feels than others.
I definitely have issues with like 90% of the shoes I try skating.

The heel of the sole being too tall and narrow for my heels is my only issue. The shape in the forefoot and amount of padding is perfect for my feet. The tall sole starts rolling when I'm rapidly moving side to side while skating so walking in them isn't a problem for me. But yes, they are not skateable as is for my feet.

It's something with the insoles/missile cushioning pattern. I had a pair of the reynolds and a pair of the white/black and had nonstop pain while wearing them

Swapping the 480 insole (at least for the 1st generation shoes) is a must. I couldn't skate the shoe at all as it made my feet hurt like hell. After tossing the stock insoles and replacing them with some normal ass 440 insoles and later Sti's from my old Etnies Joslins worked great.

The shoe can be kinda problematic for many people. I initially hated the pair I owned even after the insole swap as they felt bulky and stiff as hell, but then after some long-ass time religious breaking in they started to click and I actually ended up liking them a whole lot. They're one of the longest lasting skate shoes I've ever owned. Not sure if I'll skate another pair but if you want a tough, sturdy, long-lasting shoe with great impact protection and don't need a shitload of boardfeel the shoe might just be for you.

Can anyone confirm the exact changes? I know it has tongue straps now. The collar for the heel looks a little more padded.
If the forefoot fit would be a little less roomie I might try again.

I’ll admit most shoes don’t bother me, thankfully I’m more decisive based on flick, durability and cushion than finding shoes without hot spots. I’ve got pretty narrow feet and most shoes feel fine for me, my biggest issue is my ankle starts hurting quickly if I wear anything as thin as a 440v2. I’ve tried almost every cupsole NB# had had in the line up since 2020 and I could rock with any of them tbh, some just make sessions shorter lol.

I'm not sure why this shoe never came out in mass numbers, imo one of the best looking skate shoes to ever come out ( looking, haven't skated it so I can't speak to performance )

The low tops looked fire, but the highs of that model always made me think that I’d have to spend 5 to 10 minutes just trying to put the damn things on.
