I rocked a couple sets of those exact thunder bushings in my Indys a few years back. Not bad at all once you break em in.

These are pretty good.
At the moment, I'm just keeping the original bushings of a set of Indy's
Christ airs, airwalks and darkslides

Whats the hate on the original indy bushings?

Honest question

Ive rode indys for about 15 years straight(different models included) and never had issues???

Also, back in the day I tried every truck possible lol. Remember the gullwing magnesiums? Hahahha

Also, fuck silver, tensor and royal.

I tried soooo hard to like the original orions, but it was not meant to be

j....soy.....

You have to break them in, no rebound.....mushy.....

But tons of people just get over it and like them....

For me the Bones Hardcore Hards have been way more stable than stock Indys. Takes more effort to turn initially = more stable going faster, but does turn nicely and predictably once you put more pressure on either edge = still turns good. Got the hards cuz I'm a big guy. Never tried Indy hards though.

i hated the stock indy bushing because you get off the board after turning or w/e and the trucks just stay in turnt.

I only find that when they are brand new.

I hate breaking in any new trucks.

Ill ride mine as long as I can and its mostly a concrete park these days so trucks last like 2 years plus

ran all different combinations of hard/medium bones, then gave up because they just got too squirrelly and my board felt like a cruiser/longboard n shit
been using the blue aftermarket Indy bushings for a while with no regrets

Keen to try some Indy after markets... What feels the most like new bones mediums/broken in hards? All these options are confusing me

New mediums/broken in hards would be similar to the blue indy conicals

hey guys, is there a way to quickly break in new bushings? My current ones are pretty cracked and I just bought some aftermarket ones, but those first sessions always feel really off because the bushings are still stiff. Is there a way to soften them up before?

Some people say to boil them and then put them in and skate them a little bit before they cool down. The one time I tried it it didn't seem to make much difference but I think I did it totally wrong. Check the truck setup thread, I think Steve or someone posted instructions on how to do it therem

I put my new bushings on, crank them down super tight overnight and then loosen it all the way up before I go skate

Do that like twice and they’re pretty good

Also cranking them and standing on the board and leaning back and forth helps even more.

Boiling bushings did nothing for me. Ultimately, they’re too stiff because you could probably go for a softer durometer next time around.

I found the best way is to sand down the TOP side of the top bushing for about 5 minutes on an old board’s grip. That way you can get the kingpin nut flush without it falling off, while there’s a little more play underneath to give you a better and looser feeling.

Nah, its not that they are too stiff. I always ride the medium bushings and they work perfect, its just the first 2 or 3 sessions that are a bit off. If I got the soft ones they would probably feel good on the first go but then way too soft on after broken in. I will try to boil them, nothing to loose I guess...
