Nah I haven't listened to it. I think you have to subscribe to his SubStack (like OnlyFans for writing, I think) to hear it. Yeah, I also assumed it's gonna be largely about "cancel culture" from a leftist perspective, which seems like it could get old fast. I have mixed feelings about Greenwald anyway, he's done some incredible journalism, but also seems like a dumbass sometimes.

Yeah, I agree. Obviously the Snowden stuff and his coverage of Bolsonaro too, but his leaving the Intercept was really weird.

GG had a massive hardon to argue against media portrayal of Trump being in cahoots with Russia. One of his later pieces with the intercept also criticizes Liberal/Left media for refusing to acknowledge Joe Rogan as a legitimate source while interviewing folks like Mike Bloomberg. He makes good points regarding establishment acceptance in the JR piece, essentially calling JR an easy target. https://theintercept.com/2020/09/22/as-joe-rogans-platform-grows-so-does-the-media-and-liberal-backlash-why/

Love me some chapo, and all the great pods they've led me to, trashfuture, trillbillies, street fight, true anon, qanon anonymous, the distraction (drew and Roth from deadspin) I also listen to a few normie pods like mbmbam, pardon my take, hardcore history, the dollop, real classic shit.

Been really enjoying listening to the back logs of srsly wrng and revolutionary left radio. Not enjoying the host of rev left radio, Brett, slowly going from libertarian Marxist to a Maoist though, that shit makes no fucking sense. But they’ve had a lot of really good anarchists on the podcast and I’m enjoying it.
Well I have like 9 Andy Anderson dated flight decks.

Check out the episode with dr mark bray, that shit was amazing. There’s another one with Shane burly that’s all about fascism in America and it’s fascinating. And they shout out Last podcast on the left, which is great.

The rotation right now for me is

  • Conversations with Tyler - rigourous question and answer podcast. interviewer is an accomplished free market economist. really pulls crazy answers out of the guests.
  • Mostly Skateboarding - pinnacle skate nerdery. i feel right at home with this pod
  • and also any podcast where they are interviewing George Hotz about his self driving company Comma.ai. this dude was born to troll silicon valley and maybe the only dude that can dance around Elon Musk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwcYp-XT7UI

I've been a day one listener of Bodega Boys by Desus & Mero and as their rise to fame has continued the podcast has always stayed just as genuine as it was originally, but fortunately a little less problematic.

I didn't realize you were Irish until recently. Some of the U.S. political discussions on the latest episode might not hit as hard for you, but there's enough talk about gay sex scandals that you'll be into it.

Looking forward to checking this out:

It's insane that people haven't caught on to the fact that the congressional page program is a farm team for closeted politicians to prey on. The Nestors of Anarchy episode with all the talk about Matt Gaetz and his big ass head and his "son" is also mandatory listening

Podcast About List is super funny, kinda like Cum Town but younger and dumber
www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0bzZu58ccY
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/podcast-about-list/id1446599902
One of the hosts used to (still does?) lurk Slap
Been really liking podcastaboutlist, especially lately as I've been getting burnt out on more explicitly political stuff. "Cum town but younger and dumber isn't too far off". Patrick skates & loves to talk skating on their twitch stream if you get him going.

Patrick Kigongo has really got on my tits on the mostly skateboarding podcast. It’s so much better the (rare) episodes he’s not there hugging the mic as long as possible.

Not sure if it's been mentioned in here yet but the Bodega Boys podcast (desus & mero) gets heavy rotation from me. It's the perfect approach to fucked up comedy on whatever the hot social issues or pop culture things of the week were.

Listened to the Vert Button podcast today in work. Passed the time quite well. The misled youth & modus operandi eps were really good. The host called a fakie 5.0 on a handrail a switch overcrook though which irked me...we all know there’s only one way that can be an overcrook!

I think Andrew Cannon is a stand up dude and therefore I will continue to listen to vert button, but that other cohost can really bug me sometimes. Still, I would definitely recommend it for the skate talk/nerdery alone. Haslam should be a regular on the show.

I hear ya, Haslam was great, always good to get a pro skaters takes on things. Went back and watched misled youth as a result, Greco’s part was better than I remembered!

Yeah this got me too. Especially since he only brought it up to introduce a larger point, that was also incorrect.

Real to Reel episode coming out on Sunday though.

UK shows...

The Adam Buxton Podcast is my favourite by miles. The format is: he goes for a walk with his dog, then plays an interview with a celeb mate, then says bye. Sounds shit, but is brilliant. For any mega fans, there are also archived shows of Adam and Joe from their XFM and 6Music stints (https://www.adamandjoearchive.org/).

Outside of that, there are great ones from the BBC, including the Louis Theroux podcast, which is really good (same sort of format as the Adam Buxton one). I would advise anyone to seek out a radio show called "Natalie Haynes Stands Up for the Classics", where Natalie talks about figures in history or mythology. A standout episode is where she summarises the Iliad. "You're Dead To Me" is of a similar ilk, but is an actual podcast geared towards unwrapping historical events in a comedic style- the host Greg is joined by a rotating cast of specialist historians and a comedian willing to engage.

"Desert Island Discs" is available as a podcast and there are some really rad people that have been interviewed over the decades- if you're unfamiliar, a notable person will be interviewed about their life and picks seven singles that have moved them over the events they describe. At the end they're figuratively cast away, are made to pick their favourite record of the seven and also to pick an item to while away their hours with. My favourite is the poet John Cooper Clarke, who gives frank and hilarious insight into his history of addiction.

cum town and marc maron are the only ones I listen too. I used to like Joe Rogan's podcast but he became a delusional maniac.
