I always etch a big penis doodle into my grip so I know which way I'm supposed to skate.

It starts with the balls circling two bolts and leads to the knob circling the bolts at the other end.

It's also backwards and I ride my trucks inside out because fuck the rules.

Do people still do the "G-Stripe?" (The off center tape job that left a half inch or so of one edge bare)

That was huge around 1999.

I still do it all the time, always by accident though

I think it's cool that kids are making their setups unique (grip tape colors, intricate cut outs, drawing on the grip, fun sticker assortments, etc). Skateboarding is supposed to be fun.

In the 90's it was cool to see pros with spray painted shoes, sweaters and shirts with sharpeed drawings or sayings scrawled across them, and wild dyed hair. Bring on the weird.

weird grip jobs were big last year, but overall that trend is dead now and welcome went down with it

In regards to G stripes, east coast lines, and philly lines..... I've been doing one on my last 6 or 7 decks. I used to do it a lot in like 2000ish as well. I think it looks pretty sick and I can for sure tell front from back easier that way as well.

We always called em philly lines.

this is as tech as I've ever got as far as grip goes. of all the completes i own only these have some kind of design and i don't cut lines into popsicles, one silver bolt and all black grip for those. these i ride less than popsicles so every once and awhile smoking a bowl and doing something to my grip is fun but how many line designs can someone think of? it gets to be too much. just grip it and rip it.

that first board in the third pic is a hookups and i cut the grip like this Jeremy Klein pic

im not calling it world grip but this was popular amongst the world camp wasn't it?

I did it in the mid 90's cuz I heard it helps with ollie one foot/norths and didn't eat your shoes up as much. I also put my front two bolts upside down because I thought you could ollie higher. Trial and error. These days my picky ass can only do black solid. I can't even ride MOB m-80, even though I think it's an better griptape cuz of the tiny cut-out. It just messes with my head.

I don't care about how it looks. Road House is one of my favorite movies and I wanted to think about grinding Brad Wesley's face while skating.

i've heard people calling that the "east coast line" nowadays
Was walking around USC and saw some dude skating with the "G-Stripe"
People are a lot normal there then i thought they'd be.

The World Grip thing came about because when riders were sent their package they received grip in squares not rolls. True story.

I used to do just a straight line on my grip on the back, but recently I've been following the trend or whatever. I've got three asymmetrical lines on my WKND and a Puzzle/Paint Pen thing going on with the Welcome. Also, seen this in the setup thread, this is some art:

I saw your mom do a ollie to cooch drop straight down the big black pole, it was gnarly. she defiantly shut that shit down

That's cool as shit, I've been wanting to fuck around with clear/different color grip but I never have money to buy anything more than one sheet of black grip. On a side note, I reaaallly want WKND to reissue the first crush boards

Didn't Tim O'Connor say something about skating while beating your meat being the best?

The important thing is that I would get nothing done with this grip
