Mine showed up a week or so ago. I'm in Ontario so NYC to me isn't too bad. Probably depends where you're at in Canada.

Unpopular opinion time!

I went a premiere at my local shop and thought the video was too long.

The editing transition stuff and multi-camera filming were neat, but the novelty factor wore off after awhile, at least to me.

Most of the skating was pretty similiar - low-impact cutty street skating.

Which is cool, but it all starts to blend together for me after awhile. A skate video that's one hour is generally pretty excessive, but two hours? Damn.

It was definitely a good video; the care, creativity, and hard work show.

But I think the video could have easily been 40 minutes instead of two hours. I just don't have the attention span to watch skateboarding for that long.

Well if you actually paid attention it's actually two videos, each forty minutes long. So a total of 1:20. The video description even says :

"A movie in two parts; watch it one at a time or all the way through. Choose your own adventure."

And I thought the skating was actually super diverse. Bobby Worrest and Chris Jones and Carlos young are similar?

I hadn't seen it since we premiered it and I guess I maybe blacked out there because I finally got a copy yesterday and HOLY SHIT.

I don't really know what all to get into because honestly, you've just got to see it. Parts from dudes I'm not into had a redeeming value to them. Parts from dudes I wasn't into, made me like those guys skating.

Connor Kammerer's part kind of had a similar effect on me as Dane Brady's part hit that guy that wrote the super long essay about being a child or whatever it was? So many great lines and legitimately amazing ideas put into action.

Chris Jones is my favorite skateboarder. First Vase, now this. Dude rips, creatively, with good style.

Colin man, you fucking nailed it. I hope you earn a spot editing for Nat Geo from this because goddamn 10/10.

EDIT: okay one question though, it did seem odd to me that Vincent Touzery had last part in the first half, but was entirely in converse and on 5boro boards. Homie hadn't filmed for this in what, 3 years? and still crushed it? Was there some kind of falling out or something?

Oh yeah, might not be the place for it, but 917 Call Me is wack and that dude should be on something sicker

I know I am super late on this post, but my copy just arrived today.

Fucking fantastic. Footage from Carlos young, Brian DeLa, that Kyle Nicholson line he had for opening clip was fantastic, Ben Gore, Al Davis. Daniel Kim, Taylor Nawrocki. I could keep on going, footage was awesome. I have not been this hyped for a video in a longtime. Music and editing was so on point.

I have so many questions. How many VX's did he end up going through while filming, how many tapes, stupid shit like that, that makes me wonder after watching videos.

watched it a couple times now, still goes down easy. One of the subtler things I like is the montage with the One In a Million guys, a real sweet feeling, seeing those dudes in the mix years after the whole fiasco.

Haha, I wrote that piece on Dane's part and funnily enough just two days ago was thinking about writing something about Connor's part in Spirit Quest (well I think it's his part--the one where all of the skate sounds are utilized in the song).

I've been watching this a lot the past few days. So sick. There's just so much to take in, it's overwhelming in some ways. I am definitely the type to watch, and repeatedly rewatch a video dozens of times to take get a solid feel for it, but with Spirit Quest it seems so daunting to do that, haha. It's definitely going to take me a long time to absorb it all, but patience will be rewarding. One for the books, for sure.

Spirit Quest is the Moby Dick of skate videos.

It's almost too dense to consume it all in one viewing. The more I watch 2-4 segments at a time, the better they get.
In the current skate media climate, it's easy to miss a really great video when you straight-up marathon the entire thing.

I can't speak for Colin and I don't know for sure but what I do know is that Vincent's from Paris and is really still just a kid. It's not easy to just fly back and forth across the Atlantic to film for your homie's independent video. My guess is they finished his parts awhile ago and then Colin's been working on the rest of the video with that insane amount of people and this is how long it took for him to finish it.
On the subject of 917, I like everyone on the team but agree Vincent would be cool on something else. He did quit Polar for 917 though so it is what it is.
