Skating in Board Short/Swim Trunks
« on: June 07, 2016, 10:38:57 PM »
I went to Goodwill the other day and picked up 3 new pair of Summer shorts, one of which were a pair of Quicksilver board short/swim trunk, or whatever the hell they would be called.  Basically just long shorts to middle of knee with that inner nylon undie thing.  I cut that out and am just wearing them as shorts, and man, so good to skate in.  Super thin and comfy.  I normally just wear cutoff chinos and a belt, but I think I'm moving over to swim trunks.  Plus, I guess you could theoretically be ready for a swim after a session.  Anyone else partake?

They are pretty stretchy, I picked up a pair of Billabong board shorts and have been hooked on the feel. I only use them to cruise because of superstition

I kind of support this, as long as the design is not too kook.  I get that skateboarding is somewhat fashion focused, but we really don't use/and somewhat shun what is optimal.  No dude in the NBA/NFL/cyclist/soccer is going to rock jeans or dickies when they are playing to look, "Core."  I don't want to see skating in spandex, but some athletic innovations in gear would be nice.  Even denim with a bit of stretch was pretty big.

When it's really hot I usually skate in boardshorts. I have ones that were the lightest/thinest ones i could find, they were also cheap as fuck, like 3euros on sale if i'm not mistaken. They are all black and over the knee (they have to be, otherwise you look like a dumbass). So comfy and so fresh. Lucas looks dope skating in boardshorts, you can do it too!

I wear them all the time in summer. Got some sweet Pierre Cardin ones with the inner mesh thing and usually go commando in them for that breezy ball freedom.

Unless your Raven Tershy, I feel skateboarding in board shorts is strictly a ledgetarian thing.

I also hate surfers. Not backing it.

I have a couple of pairs that I skate in sometimes, the nylon shit gets super hot if you slide on a slam. Also freeballing it with the net runs the risk of them ripping and putting on a show.

I saw some Nike golf pants at the outlet and they looked like some high tech dickies. They were really light and fresh. If I find some shorts I'll pick up some for the summer time for sure.

I have these plain Blue Calvin Klein swim shorts that I wear a lot. They have front pockets and one for your wallet. Got em at Ross for like 10 bucks. Perfect for the summer.

To each their own, but I can't stand skating in shorts. Even when I was kid I couldn't do it. Just thinking about shinners on bare skin makes me shudder.

Skateboarding in so called 'Board shorts' increase the risk of mongolitis. Removing socks can lessen the risk somewhat but its not something I'd mess with.

Bare chested and bare foot ala lee ralph is really the only safe way to skate in board shorts.

been rocking an assortment of Columbia, Polo, and Tommy trunks lately. I leave the nets in and just don't wear underwear. This is the first summer my legs have been tan since I started skateboarding.

why not a speedo if it's all about freedom of movement, keeping cool and practicality? obviously you are hopping on a skate fashion trend by doing this and justifying it to yourselves somehow.
