So many people in my school who don't skate/care about skating wear them so I went and bought one a few weeks ago for the express purpose of taking a paint pen and writing "SKATERS ONLY" on the back.

In all seriousness, he's trying his best. You need to invest a lot of time into skateboarding to not look like an ass on a skateboard. I bet even if he did want to get better, his schedule definitely wouldn't allow it. Good for him embarrassing himself in front of lots of people though. That's the true spirit of skateboarding.

NASA does more than just space exploration, but I get your point too. However, the reason skateboarders get annoyed is because people are using skateboarding as fashion. Skateboarding wasn't anywhere close to being socially acceptable as right now. If you got shit on for skateboarding in the last 20-30 years, bitterness is an understandable feeling.

I dont know, in my case I dont mind at all. Actually to me is amazing that I can be a skateboard and be socially accepted. Yes I dont had to deal with a lot of discrimination but I feel here you are going. It must be a bummer that people were assholes to you just because you skated. I just deal with that maybe on high school and not in the real world, you know. Its cool girls are skating or just wearing Thrasher shirts. Im a guy with tattoos and I hate beign discriminated for that like it happened like two or three times on my life so yes and no I get the point.

Is Thrasher's image tarnished because Bieber and Rihanna are rocking the gear? Seems like I've seen a fuck ton of people repping Thrasher all over the world for the past few years.

Who knows, I'm not Phelps, I'm not Bieber, I'm not Rihanna. If people are hyped on skateboarding and are willing to put money into it, more power to em.

I honestly see famous people rocking skate gear as a nod to the culture. It would be interesting to hear the other powers at the mag's thoughts on this.
