Thinking about getting some raws for storage since they're at a good price here.

Been thinking about trying out ace trucks. Heard good things. I've been skating thunders the past 6 years. Anyone have experience switching from thunder to ace?

Biggest change would be how it shortens the wheelbase compared to Thunder. Never ridden them before but so far my boards have got a pretty short wheelbase (14"), trucks that shorten it are no bueno for me.

Other than that they have a pretty big following on here, can't go wrong with them.
Venture Truck Height:

5.0 & 5.2 LO

FORGED - 1.85”- 46.99mm

5.0 ,5.2, 5.6, 5.8 & 6.1 HI
STANDARD - 2.09” - 53.09mm
FORGED - 2.04” - 51.82m

I went from Thunders to Aces about a year ago. The twitchy-ness of Thunders wasn't my cup of tea, it ultimately felt too unstable to me. Aces feel very squirrelly but they do exactly what I want them to do and I feel very in control. I'm not sure any gear change has had a more positive impact on my skating. As mentioned just be aware of how they impact wheelbase.

While I don’t think I need it, I kinda want to throw some riptides into my thunders.

Anybody skate Hockey boards? Been looking at the AA Angel 8.25 and contemplating pulling the trigger. The wheelbase and length seem perfect, just wondering about steepness of kicks and concave... I usually skate mellow Tum Yeto boards so I’m used to a flatter deck.
[close]

I don't skate them but I have friends that do and from what I see they are way steeper than tum yeto
[close]

Thanks Gonna give it a go and switch it up.

I’m curious to hear your thoughts, I had a Hockey once and the tail felt real short but it might’ve just been an optical illusion
[close]

Short and steep is what I see, I'm not one to try others boards so like you said could just be optical illusion

I heard the same about the short steep tails and big noses. I’ll report back after it comes in.

Mine was the same. Huge nose - steep tail. The concave felt nice and present.

8.3 size deck. Been riding 8.5 for a while. Not sure. I’m tall and got big feet. Someone said bigger could be better so something over 8.5.

Nike sb bruin gt or Nike sb Blazer mid. All the steeziest dudes are rocking em and I got a new job so j can skate some thinner stuff rather than the bricks I've been rocking for a bit.

I rode an 8.5 for a bit and a friend traded me for his old 8.3. really enjoying the 8.3 a lot more than the 8.5. fat enough to feel stable but thin enough to flip without trying too hard. Just feels good to me

Yeah I think I’m gonna do that especially since I just went back to indys and bigger wheels. I’m having trouble with my kickflips which are usually my go to.

low versus mid for you? Mid def feel more protected. For me I prefer lows just comfort wise day to day, wearing blazer low gt now

Gonna return these Sb team classics kinda hurt my feet

Never liked Nike, literally every SB I've ever tried be it my size or sized up have hurt my feet. Solid shoes but way too narrow for my feet I guess.
Alex Olson never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

wearing the gt blazer lows right now in the same size and they're great. the sb x jordan 1 lows are awesome too IMO, wear those a ton. Just the Team Classics did have a more narrow and shallow toebox with the solid-stitched inner lining too, held you in super well but in this case not for my foot. Nike return policy the best

Ive always really wanted to try some mids cause of the extra protection, but only ever really skated lows. I skated a pair of vans high tops once but they were too big so I had a bad time with those. Might just go with the bruin for now cause they're $30 cheaper

Fucking everything is on amazon, it's my go to vendor. Cheaper than almost everywhere and fast shipping.
Most of my expense reports are amazon charges.
