Has anyone sized up from a 139 to 144 yet? if so how are you liking it.

These might be the push to stop me from using extra speed rings on my inner wheel

^^^I know it's not always optimal but have you tried smaller wheels? Or the forged baseplates?
[close]

I think i already am at small wheel territory (52-51mm) but the forged baseplates sound like a good idea. Since i don't like to mix truck components i will have to wait until my current thunders' axle slip gets intolerable and to look for the forged indys then. According to Sedition's post their height is only just above 1 mm over thunders so i should be more than good with those. I had never noticed the forged ones were lower!
[close]

The baseplates are thinner, it's not that noticeable.

Have you ever tried a regular baseplate and then one with the forged right after? I think it feels like it could be a different truck model even..

Set them up already so it's not the best comparison photo but the 144s are noticeably shorter.

Just got them in. The axles measure exactly 8.25" wide. I'm setting them up with a Real 8.25x32 and they are completely flush with the edge of the board (at mounting point). The aluminum part of the hanger also surprisingly measures true to size at 144mm.

I wonder how Ermico lines up the mounting holes? Some are clearly closer the edge of the baseplate than the other. Upon further inspection, the baseplates are way out of square. Additionally, Stage XIs look shinier than older stages, but there are deep casting marks compared to a Stage VIII (which have a course finish, but all previously sharp corners are rounded off and casting marks are smoothed out). I know trucks are meant for abuse, but I felt that Indys were once semi-precision components. And if the baseplates are trapezoidal, that does not make feel confident with hole alignment.

Titaniums im sure of, i cant remember if the catalog posted a page back had a forged version. I'd guess they would, it seems almost every page had the new 144 logo on it, might just be a more scaled back release, maybe late spring/summer

Yes on both, but not for all of the Signature models or color options. Right now, stores only have standard 144s available.

Set some up with a 8.25" Scumco the other day. I really liked the way they felt with that deck.

Maybe this has been said but I was riding some 149 stage 11s and found them to be a little too bulky - After switching to 146 stage 8s after riding some 8.25 krux, i feel like i have way better control of the board, especially on ledges. The only thing the more narrow truck is worse for is slappys.

If cost isn't a barrier, some 149 forged hollows or Ti might suit you?

More of the 144s are slowly popping up on the NHS site.

Here are Forged Titaniums:

http://www.nhsfunfactory.com/144-stage-11-forged-titanium-black-truck-co-standard

Unfortunately, they've only got the black ones so far.  I'm holding out for the plain silver.

I think these trucks are intended for people who have 139's....sizing down trucks will cause you pain....

As A shop it just eliminates the 139.
I will be selling 144's to people riding 8 and up probably.

But 8.1 and 139s is the best combo ever.

Sucks to see Indy get all graphic happy a la Thunder. Those titanium with the cross on
The hanger looks like shit.

Graphics on trucks seem suitable for 9 year olds.

I was told they jack the prices up on there so people will support a shop before buying direct.

I've heard that as well, if true good on them. I've only purchased from NHS when I can't find a specific deck anywhere else.

I'm kind of eyeing those Hollow Kremers...makes you wonder why they didn't bother making raws in other options first, but it might depend on what is in the queue at the time, e.g., those logo/black Tis and the Kremers.

Im talking about bulk as in size. its not about the weight but the length of the axle. i wouldn't even want to set up 149s again at this point

I've been riding a pair of Theeve ti 8.18" on both an 8.25" and 8.38" (the 8.38 tapers enough so its not magic caroet) - I set up another 8.25" with some 149s and it seemed, felt awkward, which is odd given that combo is all I skated for years and years. Guess I just got used to the 8.25" ish width.

Let's go Thunder 148s ;)

Yeah, i'm not feeling the price or the colorway.  I just figure once I see them pop up on there that it's a good indicator they'll be available elsewhere soon.

However, I too am really wanting some Thunder 148s!  I'll be an Indy guy though until Thunder gets that worked out.
