well to be fair it's hardly sounds like a "by skaters for skaters" type of brand does it?

to me it sounds like what state footwear could have been with a marketing budget (basic vulc shoes at a competetive price).
granted, i would have preferred to see them push it using more actual skateboarders instead of celebrities, but then again it seems like he knows what he is doing. looking forward to see the team, maybe they`ll at least support some guys that deserve a paycheck.

I really hope your down for this brand, Jamie and not fronting for a check.  I just don't see you being so positive about a brand that has shoes that say "Hi AF", you and me both know that is fucking stupid...

My skate/thief wallet is a Nike Golf wallet... it won't fit any of my id cards. But it does fit a tool.

A real anarcho syndicalist skate shoe brand. Sick.
I wonder... Where are these shoes manufactured? And by whom? And at what cost?

What a nice change of pace from the capitalist system.

Jamie says that there will be "no rules" and "apologies". It's likely a catchphrase from their broader marketing campaign. The address of Straye is the same as Angel Cabada's Cu4tro LLC (these shoes are in the $200+ range). This appears to mirror his Supra strategy of selling "NS" shoes to idiots and using their skate line to anchor the brand with street cred, but instead there are two different brands with superficially similar logos.

Just did a little research on K Swiss (on Wikipedia, of course, as a freshman should), they seem... normal.

I back JT but those do not look like skate shoes and it looks like he had to put shoe goo on them even though they're new?

A lot of people put shoe goo on when their shoes are new. I do it. I personally believe it adds life to the shoe before it starts to ware down. I for one hate breaking shoes in, even if i was sponsored id still hate it. I like all my shit old and broken in. Could be what JTs deal is, shoes still look like a converse mock tho straight up.

I do it right out of the box. Helps keep structural integrity rather than waiting until the shoe is soft and run down and likely losing shape.

I like the circle A just because I like the thought of the overtly Christian/capitalist Chief supporting anarchism.

I like the idea of the Chief sitting at home reading Bakunin's "God and the State," and saying to himself, "What have I been doing? Religion is only a tool to create false hierarchies within society and capitalism will only lead to barbarism. I must save society by promoting the anarchist atheist communal philosophy through a no rules skateboarding shoe company."

Or maybe he found Tolstoy's Christian anarchist philosophy and all his profits from Straye will go towards developing a communal Christian society.

I wish some of the older pros would just take their money and ability to attract investors and do something outside of skateboarding. Rocco did some amazing and some terrible things, but the best thing he ever did for skateboarding was simply leaving it.

Essentially, Straye/Cu4tro is outside of skateboarding. You can see the progression (regression?) from TSA to Krew to Supra to this. Angel Cabada just sold a $100 million+ company that skateboarders didn't care about, so he knows how to make money from the mainstream. They just need that little bit of street cred in order for outsiders to latch onto it.
