Anyone know how to check a PS Stix serial number and find out the shape/size?  I ordered a Toy Machine 8.5 Ed Templeton deck from Tactics, and when it arrived it was actually a Leo Romero graphic, but the factory barcode sticker on the outside of the shrinkwrap still had it labeled as a 8.5 x 32.25 Ed T.
I've ridden a bunch of the Toy Machine 8.5 x 32.25s, and this shape was def not one of them.  This one had a super full, square nose, and I really enjoyed skating it.  Would like to reliably find another (local shop rarely ever carries TM unfortunately).

Don't know how many you bought but since Toy changed woodshops from Generator to PS...they are more blunted than before for sure....

It's funny w. Crail stuff....if they were DSM I'd actually feel better about them....
[close]

I probably would too. it's about picking the lesser of two evils here...and Dwindle is it
[close]
Crailtap boards have too much of a durability issue, they kinda feel like PS stix (Light and poppy) but for a week at most.
[close]

For me, the Crail boards are like a lottery. Last two I have had, including the one I am riding, were really crisp.
The one prior to that though was shit the moment I stood on it and nothing worked at all.  So if you are into not knowing at all if  a board is going to work, and consider yourself a bit of a gambler, Crail are the boards for you.

I reckon you can pick 'em just by looking at the concave, and by buying a recently released graphic. If the concave and shape looks proper, like it would the best, truest one out of the batch of 5 (or maybe more). Also learnt not to order them online. I'm convinced they send the shittier ones to big online stores.

I had an instagram discussion with Paul Schmitt and gave him a serial number. He was able to tell me the dimensions, when it was pressed and what company it was for. Super crazy.

Yeah, my first move was actually to send him a DM, but after he didn't respond for a few days, I turned to Slap...

yo it would be kinda sick if you could access the serial number databases, you could look up your board's serial #and find out all the details, including shape, making it easier to find the exact shape you want all the time by having search criteria based off the shape and manufacture date to find the newest ones

I know they did a recent collaboration with grizzly and skatemental - and as a part of the release they did a run of a few boards.  so according to this post seems like its a new partnership.

A shop here uses them for their boards. I liked mine, it felt a lot like BBS to me. They're pretty durable, but I do know a guy who got a warped board, so be careful I guess.

I use Quincy for my little board company. Hands down, the strongest boards I've seen, straight up.

Good: strong, snappy, durable, USA made.

Bad: limited shapes, but thats really about it.

I don't know about the boards you get in america, but they started out at bbs/generator but switched to HLC since they're both based in spain after the first or second delivery.

Are there any Sours getting sold in North America?

I've never seen one for sale here afaik, so maybe they have switched to HLC entirely

Sour can be acquired in America. Saw them in person at Cowtown, I think Seasons may have had them as well.

Tum Yeto - Foundation and TM specifically, are the shapes the same? pointy (like regular reals) or more on the full side? Finally found some short decks with long WBs and want to give them as shot.

FA not using PS has nothing to do with "when they can't do it." I've
Talked to Paul Schmitt and it's due to price or politics -- or how the FA folks are feeling that day. The wood biz is all politics and pennies--with the manufacturers making their coin on quantity.

I think a lot of people don't realize how often board companies switch between wood shops. Also, I don't think people realize just how different two boards from the same wood shop can be, even boards from the same run. That's why I don't buy boards online anymore, because I've made the mistake of buying duplicate boards thinking they'd be the same when you can tell the decks came from opposite ends of the board pile.

As far as brands by woodshop are concerned, Fancy Lad & Supreme get their boards from Chapman.
At least when you're a washed-out hipster douchebag in NY, you can milk it at some decent looking, hard to skate spots. In LA you're just a tan-lined faggot in a school yard somewhere.
