oh man what can i say, i mean chelsea clearly deserve it because they did defeat the best team in the world, barca, and then bayern munich, so cant put it all on luck. but at the same time im so bummed on the way chelsea played this tournament, i just hate the kind of football they played throughout. in the words of van der sar, the way they played was "disgraceful". this was clearly the best example of "the best team doesnt always win" because there were at least 4 teams better than  chelsea lol

Too bad that di Matteo will probably still get sacked.

"But I won you a double Roman"

"Don't care, fuck off."

Did you see when Di Mateo and Roman hugged.  Di Mateo goes, "I WON IT!!" haha.  He looked shocked.

Already have a bracket filled out. Spain v. Croatia for the semis, Germany v. Netherlands in an epic battle. Spain v. Germany in a rematch from last tournament, with Spain taking it all again. Can't stop, won't stop. Vive Espa?a!!

Someone should definitely make one. I'll get a team put together at some point, though I'm sure I'll do awfully.

Basically you just select your team based on a fake bankroll.  Pick the players that will score the most goals (5pts), assists (3 pts), clean sheets (for mid/def/gk).  At a minimum they should play the 90 (or 75 min) to get 2 points.  The key to the game is selecting a captain and the best team each week that will get you the most points.  Captains double the players points so it's really crucial.  If this game is like fantasy prem, you get a transfer at every week.

Hopefully Torres steps it up and Hazard chooses Chelsea over City or United.

Not sure how pleased he was after getting left out of the Champions League final and then not getting to take a pen. He still has 3 years or so on his contract so this is a make or break season for him

Yeah he said he wasn't happy about the amount of games he played. But now Drogba is gone he should get his chance.

Drogba seems to think so too http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/7772534/Drogba-Torres-is-the-future

If I was him, I'd be more worried by the number of goals I couldn't put in the back of the net when I actually got to play.

I had no idea that Drogba was 34. Not that old in the grand scheme but considering how good a season he has had and how regular he played, thats pretty good

Drogba didn't exactly score a ton of goals this season (Torres actually scored more in the league), but the ones he did score were super important. Chelsea probably wouldn't have won shit this season without him.

I think Torres is going to have to score at least 15-20 league goals next season or he's probably going to be out on his ass. He'll get more starts now that Drogba is gone certainly, but chelsea will probably bring in another striker in the summer to provide some competition as well. I'm gonna be really interested to see whether he makes it to the euros, and if so, whether he actually plays and does well.

Drogba is 34, I don't think his leaving is any news. By Italian Serie A standards, Drogba is still considered a teenager

Hopefully Chelsea can now have Torres as their focal point and start easing in new and younger players and just phase out this negative system they've been known to play.

I've got a huge soft spot for Arsenal but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy/follow other teams - if Chelsea can play positively and attractively I'd be stoked

But i agree with what you said. If Chelsea can turn it around and start playing more appealing football, I'll watch.

marcelo was all over that game. played like a box to box midfielder rather than a back. bummer cherundolo (sp) couldn't grab that second goal for states. the brazilian women in the stands did not disappoint.

They (Brazil) had some incredible saves, too.

Marcelo is probably my favourite player in the world right now. So skillful in getting by people on the wings and his playing style (I'm kind of using the term in the same way as skateboarding style here) is just so cool. He reminds me of a playful monkey swinging through treetops (in a totally non-racist way).

Cazorla's free kick goal for spain was also pretty sweet...one of ronaldinho's old tricks.

In other news, Catalonia has been cleared to play international tournaments as long as playing against Spain is not a possible outcome. Don't really understand what the fuck that means exactly but still made headline news. Maybe if Spain ever fails to qualify for Euro/WC then they get to play?
