I cringe when I see Koston in Barca jerseys.  I wonder if he even watches.

[close]

As opposed to all the other skaters mentioned? It's like Europeans wearing New Era hats, they don't do it cause they support the team.
I'm sure none of them watch, but some guys like BA and Olson can pull off wearing jerseys others can't in my opinion.  Plus Barca is one of the uglier jerseys.

Cthulhu!

^Yeah, saw that shit live on tv. Crazy.

Puyol took it like a boss though, feel bad for him just getting back and playing after a long stint away and immediately he gets his elbow dislocated. Guy just can't seem to get a break

Too soon.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

He just dislocated it apparently so it's not as bad as it could have been, a month and a half out. There was some cheesy joke on twitter about how if he just died he'd still somehow play again in three months.

Barca need another centre back, I don't know what they were thinking not bringing one in this summer. Now they're going to have to play a month's worth of games (including 1 against madrid) with two midfielders holding down the centre of defence. I know, I know "if you keep the ball well enough then your opponents can't score" but Barca's model is dependent on their ability to defend properly against the odd counter attack that comes their way; that means they need pacy, strong centre backs with good positional sense who can make decisive challenges to avoid embarrassment when their teammates push up too far and lose the ball. Oh well, at least Iniesta's back in action.

Man, I wish I could watch more champions league games. The replays on tv where I'm at start at like 12:30 (1/2 past midnight) and I've gotta get up early tomorrow morning. Based solely on entertainment value, which one(s) from this round would be best to download? Anyone?

As in matchday 2?  Spartak vs Celtic. BATE vs Munich.
Today has: Porto vs. PSG and Man City vs Dortmund.
Where do you download matches from?

England has a real goalkeeper? one who can catch a ball? I always remember David Seaman being a bad goalie but still the best in England.

Who do you mean? The last good goalie they had was Shilton. It's all been downhill since then. It's about time for a change.

great matches for abbiati and joe hart, Borussia pretty much wasted the game when they missed the goal with lewandowski..
unfair penalty and unfair point for man city, but the last 3-4 seconds of this had me in tears from laughing

the whole interaction between weidenfeller and balotelli was hilarious.

the conversation before the penalty, the penalty itself and balotellis gesture....

i'd love if the players would have to wear mics.

it was a good one to watch for sure.
leaving victor in a 1v1 situation with ronaldo is always bad news for barca
and once again messi with an amazing free kick,
I think the first goal relied heavily on luck but was a good goal either way.

In other news...atletico is trailing by only 3 points tied for first

I would love to see Atletico make a serious title challenge this year. They've got to make the most of this last year of Falcao's greatness, because he's gonna be leaving at the end of this season for sure. Hopefully they can at least make the champions league and give some other team a chance of making the Europa league final next year.

Ya, you've pretty much gotta get your toe right under it and send your foot directly through the middle of the ball. It's actually a little easier to do when the ball's running away from you like that because you can use the trajectory of your swing to hit it across the goalkeeper without getting any slice. Still incredibly difficult though.

never saw this thread. pretty hyped.

i only care about 3 teams: atletico, hibs, and newcastle.

both hibs and atletico got off to a hot start.

newcastle... room for improvement. cmon magpies!

note: die hard atletico fan. pre two time europa/uefa cup triumphs. glad to see us getting some silverware. let's just hope we don't sell falcao. but i've become used to that... kun, torres, forlan... fuck.
