pretty sure he'd just replace Di Maria, maybe use him as a false 10 if benzema isn't playing

I agree. Ronaldo scores tons of goals anyway from his current position in left attacking mid, and Bale seems to have no interest in playing "left winger" anymore, so there's no reason to move him up front. The system Real Madrid has used to great effect over the past few years has also been reliant to some extent on using Ronaldo's runs down the wing to get the ball into the opposition half and attack quickly in transition, although it's always possible that Ancelotti plans to switch to a less counter-attacking style.

I think Bale will probably be used as a right sided attacking midfielder who cuts in a lot to shoot and dribble (an 'inverted winger' if you will). Watching Tottenham's games this past season, the "cut in to shoot at the top of the box with left foot" move was one of Bale's favourites and he scored a ton of goals that way. Di Maria also loves to do that but has been much less successful at it lately.

That's what I'm thinking. Left footed wide guy playing on the right side would mean a favorable shooting position, just like Ronaldo

Been reading reports that Bale wants to go to spain. Sucks for spurs fans; bright side is you'll have heaps of budget and possible a couple of players due to the transfer.

Seems like the sun website are now trying to change users to view the page. Sucks I because I liked reading football stories with slutty tit pics at the bottom of my page. Skysports is the go.

Im getting the feeling that man u wont sign anyone

I wouldn't believe any "reports". Nothing has been said officially yet... Although it does seem as if the statement "Not for sale at any price" isn't holding up. This whole "Galactico" ordeal and the idea that RM have to one up Barca in the transfer window is fucking childish.

Tottenham stand to lose much more than just a great footballer. Fifa, BT, lucozade (or whatever the fuck the drink is) and the Time's square ad are all marketing canvases that Bale stands in as a Spurs player. This explains the asking price. But, fuck it, whatever. Im beyond sick of reading about it...Yet continue to do so as each fresh article pops up. It's put a dampener on the fact that we have just signed Soldado!

The united thing is strange. I wouldn't give up hope just yet.

hearing rumours that Clint Dempsey has been sold to a team in the MLS. not sure how true this is but its a shame if it is. dude was pretty much our only aerial threat and always looked lively off the bench. seems like a nice dude too. would rather see Mr. Adebayor take his weekly wages over to Turkey. the Bale situation seems to be mostly media hot air. marca and the british tabloids are having a field day with this shit

Yeah, rumours of a move to Seattle. I don't know how to feel about it. Great off the bench, finds important goals. But still not convinced?

I think Spurs should sell Bale and give Adebayor a 10 year, 250,000 pound a week contract extension.

FUCK YEAH!
If Bale stays we'll win the fuckin' premiership. Mark my words.

Can't say I agree with the sale of Steven Caulker though. The kid was one of our greatest talents, and perhaps already better than Dawson.

Dempsey to MLS confirmed. Sounds a little like Will Smith with his hoarse voice. Wish him all the best.

Wales? Is that a country?

Yes and no.

I'm still unsure how good or bad NBC's coverage will be, but that video was better than I expected.

This move was absolutely shocking to me but it's just another move in the right direction for MLS.  It's been a pretty good distraction this summer.  Sounds like Deuce is getting paid very nicely.  He looks strange wearing anything but white though (USA, Fulham, Spurs).  Seattle vs Portland in three weeks is a must watch IMO.

Chelsea vs Inter was a great time too.  Nice stadium.

I have to admit watching Chelsea this preseason they look good.  They should be favorites to win the league this year.  Should be interesting tonight to see Chelsea play Real Madrid and how hard the two teams decide to go against each other.  Only a preseason friendly?

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/aug/09/hull-rebranded-hull-city-tigers-name

"Hull owner Assem Allam has confirmed the club will be formally renamed Hull City Tigers from the start of the new season. The move, which runs the risk of stoking resentment among fans, will do away with the Association Football Club (AFC) moniker which has been part of the Yorkshire club's name since their formation in 1904.

Revealing the move in the Hull Daily Mail, Egyptian-born businessman Allam said: "Hull City is irrelevant.

"My dislike for the word 'City' is because it is common. City is also associated with Leicester, Bristol, Manchester and many other clubs. I don't like being like everyone else. I want the club to be special. It is about identity. City is a lousy identity. Hull City Association Football Club is so long."

I thought Fener was banned from European competitions, what will happen if they can beat Arsenal?

These Turkish clubs always have a very strong home advantage. Thankfully, Arsenal play the second leg at the Emirates.

It's not a walk in the park, but it's looking very favorable.

I just saw something that said they were appealing so they can still enter the CL for the time being.  Who knows what will happen if their appeal gets denied.
