The talent on the Ballon d'Or shortlist announced today is pretty awesome. Not one Englishman made the list.

Anyone that you think should have been on this list that's not?

Ballon d'Or shortlist: Gareth Bale (Real Madrid/Wales), Edinson Cavani (Paris St Germain/Uruguay), Radamel Falcao (Monaco/Colombia), Eden Hazard (Chelsea/Belgium), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris St Germain/Sweden), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona/Spain), Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich/Germany), Robert Lewandowski (Borussia Dortmund/Poland), Lionel Messi (Barcelona/Argentina), Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich/Germany), Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich/Germany), Neymar (Barcelona/Brazil), Mesut Ozil (Arsenal/Germany), Andrea Pirlo (Juventus/Italy), Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich/France), Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich/Netherlands), Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid/Portugal), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich/Germany), Luis Suarez (Liverpool/Uruguay), Thiago Silva (Paris St Germain/Brazil), Yaya Toure (Manchester City/Ivory Coast), Robin van Persie (Manchester United/Netherlands), Xavi (Barcelona/Spain).

Anyone see Lukaku nailing Lloris in the head with his knee today and knocking him out? Shit was gnarly.

In fairness that doesn't apply to all European football fans. When was the last time you heard that much noise in the Camp Nou (90,000 plus people) or the Emirates? I think it's pretty much a function of ticket prices. In Germany, where standing room tickets are cheap and plentiful, fan support is 100x better than anything you would see at some overpriced, overhyped premier league team's stadium. Yuppies and corporate hospitality douchebags don't make for a very vocal or supportive audience, evidently.

^That's a fair assessment. While I thought the Emirates sounded pretty loud and good against Liverpool, it's pretty inconsistent match by match. You could tell because Arsenal's traveling support are really awesome which is sort of indicative of how expensive it is to see games at home.

You see a new article about this pop up almost every other day. About how the rabble and the working class have been priced out of the modern game. Attendances are such a marginal part of a football brand's revenue these days with massive commercial deals and shit. They probably have no qualms about raping the little guy trying to go watch some football on a Saturday.

I watch all the football matches here. If youre not satisfied with the quality, they usually have different streaming links you can click on.

It's not on until 11:45 am pacific time but I'm sure you know that already.

Oh word. So you're like 8 or 9 hours ahead of me. You can watch pretty much any football match on that site. Great for here in the states where people could give 2 shits about real football and it can be very difficult to find any matches on tv if it's not Mexico playing or sometimes the US team.

Yeah, I feel you. I couldn't get the stream to work using your site though... but this one works just fine, if anyone else needs it.

expected much more from arsenal, although ramsey shot the only goal. 15 minutes to go.
edit: actually dortmund is not that good today. I'm wrong.

Arsenal's offense was terrible in the first half but they obviously dominated in the second. Dormund fell asleep in the second half for some reason.

You know, Arsenal played like the away side. LOL. Grabbing 3 points from the Westfalenstadion is not a feat to scoff at. I believe Arsenal are the first English club to pull it off?

All that's left before the break is a nice run in against some mid table club from the north west who's name I forget.

As a City fan I don't know what I want.  Can't stand United, but want you guys to drop points.  I guess I would settle for a draw.  On a positive note 3rd times a charm in the CL and we already qualify for the final 16.  We might as well give up 1st place to Bayern in the group and try to catch you Gooners in the league.

If anyone's gonna catch up with Arsenal I think it'll be City. Although I'm a bit hesitant to back this team too  much after the massive drop off in form they had during their title winning season, I think they have a fantastic chance of winning the League if Vincent Kompany can stay healthy. Their attacking players are just so good and I think they might be able to achieve some consistency now that they don't have old floppy hair forcing them into 3-5-2 halfway through important champion's league games and suchlike.

Arsenal have been great and I love watching them, but I just can't see that squad winning the league. City on the other hand are up there with Madrid and Bayern (and maybe also Chelsea) for best squad in Europe.

I think there were a lot of factors.  Aguero got hurt on the first game of the season last year and never fully recovered.  You can see when fit how clinical a finisher he can be.  Mancini set up much more defensively too.  Now with Pellegrini they are slotting in goals left and right but giving up a lot just as well.  They need to adjust to the high defensive line he likes to play which is taking time and also find that balance, because when they try to push men up front they are exposed at the back.  I hope they can sort it out.
