Any french guys here who have an opinion on ASSE? How would you rate their chances to join ligue 1 again? Are they any good?
[close]
They are up. They won Friday.
[close]

Well than I don't understand the french system at all. I thought they still have to face Metz
[close]

Yeah I fucked up. I didn't realize there was a second leg of the "barrage" is on now, they won 2-1 on the first leg, now they are away to Metz.

Well now they made it :)

Watching the Champion's League final, all I could think every time Courtois blocked another shot was, "damn, Germany doesn't usually have this difficult of a time getting through Belgium".

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

He doesnít get enough credit in these finals.   It was like the same situation last time against Liverpool

Borussia was on top for 70 minutes, then that corner which they had already tried just minutes before. Then Borussia hit the snooze button, a fumbled ball was won and set to Vini and it was over.

So guys, what do you think about Real Madrid winning the Champions League?

It's a shame. Real looked beatable and Dortmund was really on top of their game for around 70 minutes. Before the game I thought Dortmund would never stand a chance so I was really surprised by that.

Real winning another CL is a little boring. I am happy for Toni Kroos but it would've meant so much for Dortmund and it will take a long time for them to get another shot

Spare a thought for the Canadian men's team and our new head coach Jesse Marsch. His first two games are friendlies against Nederlands and France (already thumped by the Dutch 4-0) and then gets thrown directly into Copas with Argentina, Peru, and Chile in the round-robin. I'm seeing 0-5 to start with some more heavy losses coming our way. Going to be a rough few weeks.

Itís funny that Zidane is trotted out to meet adidasís French skaters.   I remember he did something with Puig a while back.

So Zidane signs Milou's Malto board and Lizarazu shirt? Who put this together? At least have Zidane's shirt there, and maybe a blank board with an adidas sticker all over.

I was NOT expecting that to go to 4-0 for us. I didn't watch the game, but we definitely took the game seriously as a warm-up for Austria (since Marsch is a strong proponent of gegenpressing, as is his former mentor Ragnick, who's now Austria's coach).

I indeed wouldn't put too many hope on a good result against France. But hey, friendlies and all, it doesn't matter. And the Copa America is a different kettle of fish.

yup exactly ha....it was the same with Puig.
also agree the Lizarazu shirt was a weird touch?

as far as Zidane being goated, this floored me a few weeks back. Just an exhibition game but damn, he still got it!

Won everything (WC, Euro, CL, multiple league cups), was an amazing fullback and after retirement took up jiu-jitsu and won a "senior" tournament. Also pointed out Evra being full of himself and a liar...so he's good in my books.

yup Lizarazu always seemed like a real cool, humble guy. He's from the basque country so he surfs pretty good too!

The Euros is a weird tournament. It seems somewhat common for unexpected countries to win, like Greece or Italy's retirement squad. France bounced early last time, and somehow Portugal beat them the previous one. France has a tendency to get Le Tired on a whim and just play like they don't really care about the game or winning. I'd be surprised if England won. They're kind of like a better version of the USMNT where the collective isn't better than the individual players. Maybe we can blame the coaches on both of those teams.

Englands success in the past 2-3 tournaments show theyíre a better team than the ďgolden generationĒ you described.   That said, I donít have hope that the fairy tale will continue this year.   Weíve lucked out a lot on bracket placement, so I donít really have an opinion until I see how the knock out round shapes up

Croatia are paying $41 to win. I bet $10. Its a long shot but they generally go pretty well in the big tournaments.

Teams usually wait for Euro/Copa America tourneys to be done before announcing new managers, which I think is the case with the England squad and ETH.

Meanwhile in in Italy:
AC Milan hires Portuguese manager Paulo Fonseca
Juventus hires Brazilian-Italian Thiago Motta
