Hey Shalomies,
I've been pretty much stuck at home for the last two months with a fractured ankle and torn tendon. On an old iPad I've been making little animations which are seriously helping me pass the time and cope with the isolation. I'm new at animation and it's a pretty intimidating medium but I'm trying to post little projects that I'm working on in hopes of developing some chops.
Any thoughts/criticism is welcome <3

Thanks dudes, appreciate the positive feedback. And fineco, that’s nuts. Seems a bit daunting to even begin a project like that.
[close]
def was daunting with the first one. It took me a lot longer than expected. I spent tons of time reading and reading about process and tried to get an idea for all aspects of it, but even then it still didn't help as much as just doing it.

Dope.  Where do you source the fiberglass?  Do you get it preformed or do have to shape and assemble it?  Reminds me of that 80's movie, "The North SHore."  The old guy is always shaping boards.

I have a few big boxes of unfinished stuff.

Sometimes its best to put stuff away.

This totally fucked up. Acrylic white doesn't burn proper. Has to be oils.

I bought the foam at US Blanks in Melbourne Florida...took a 3 hour drive north just to pick them up (got 3 of them to make it worthwhile.) I ordered the fiberglass fabric from Shapers Supply which is now out of Oregon. If I had to do it again I don't think I'd order from them though because they are really slow with any communication. They removed things from my order and only told me things were removed, but not what specifically was removed, and took them over a week to let me know so I had to source items elsewhere. I've had luck with Greenlight surf supplies and Fiberglass Florida though.

As for the process I did everything from start to finish, no outside help. I definitely have a ways to go to learn the glassing part though. I mean every board is fine and surfs pretty good, but their finish quality falls a little bit short of what I'd like. From a first glance you wouldn't notice any problems, but I stare at these things for hours trying to make mental notes of what I got right and what I got wrong. I'd love to keep building boards and getting better at them. I told my friends if they supply the materials I'll make them for free. Also just picked up an airbrush setup so I hope to soon knock some out with some airbrushed artwork too.

In short, 100% North Shore inspired. Turtle showed me the way...and called me a barney too.

I'm really proud I was able to pull the me without a face character in this way or medium or whatever. It's the exact opposite of what spray painting is. I wanna do a really really big one with roller paint someday.

Made this little wooden ornament for my 3 year old. Trying to get him into skateboarding. For those wondering what tools went into the making of this, I used a Delta 460 midi wood lathe which I got for quite cheap at a black friday sale. Its an excellent machine that with great power and a large turning capacity. This is one of the first things I've turned using it. Anyone else interested in buying a hoobyist wood lathe, I would recommend doing your research before deciding on a product. Each lathe is different in use and purpose. I did my research at https://woodymanreviews.com
Hope you like my creation!

I drew this one I was in jail around the year 2000 and when I got out I did a rub transfer on to the canvas.

The original was colored with whatever I could make ink out of.
