SLAP's getting a long overdue upgrade

Hey Guys,
So I finally have the spare time to give SLAP a long overdue upgrade.  Here are my basic intentions and I wanted to get feedback/suggestions from you guys.
1) Upgrade the Forum, and Content site software.
2) Move the "Content" site to a legacy tab and make the "Frontpage" of SLAP be a series of POST's from the forum that moderators could easily just click one button and publish to the frontpage. The frontpage would just be like Topic, Title, Author, and the first post and the rest of the posts following it would be visible once the clicked in further to the post.

They idea behind this is to make the Frontpage identify more with what SLAP is today.  Allowing Moderators to promote posts to the frontpage means that news relevant to skateboarding NOW can be visible on the homepage.  Let me know what you guys think, does this idea suck? Do you hate change? Want me to leave you the fuck alone? Let me know!

From the upgrade standpoint the main improvements are:
1) Speed/Performance
2) User / Post moderation is better
3) We can add extensions for things like auto embedding youtube vids, images, Instagram etc...
4) Moving to a more responsive design

Hell yeah, sounds good! One suggestion I have is the ability to "like" or thumbs up individual posts. It's a feature ive seen & used on other forums and think it'd be cool on here to like stuff like peoples pics in the setup thread, photoshops/funny posts, good info, etc...sometimes you wanna give someone props without actually posting something & not everyone can gnar/kook people. Just a suggestion

How about better mobile support? Reading is ok in landscape mode, but typing a reply fucking sucks as the field is so fucking big. Also don't force a handicapped mobile version on all mobile users. That would be the worst.

Please do not do anything even remotely like this. The like button is the laziest excuse for millennials to pretend they are involving themselves in something. If you can't be bothered to compliment someone by typing then what's the point in "liking" it.

Everything else sounds good. I like Slap because it is still just a straight up forum not a complex social network.

I agree with Soda, I like the vintage forum feel and think adding "likes" would interfere with that, if you don't care about a statement enough to at least quote it in agree, maybe just keep shtum, we dont need a one click express yourself option IMO
