So Tampa Am 2017 just happened...

I just saw that Tampa Am went down this weekend. I look forward to the tampa contests each year but this year I didnt even know it was happening. maybe its my fault but I didnt see any ads telling me to watch it. No ads to download the ETN app. Nothing. I came here to see if anyone has mentioned the contest. nothing. Im not sure what the deal is but my instinct is to blame ETN for hijacking Tampa pro last year. now its up to ETN to advertise the events they show through their channel and i didnt see any and thus missed the contest. not that i would have dowloaded ETN anyway, but i might have stopped by the skate shop to see part of it. any thoughts

because obviously  i didn't have anything better
to do. the contest was dope.  you didn't have to
download the etn ad, it also worked if you enter
a fake email address. i agree, i stumbled upon
the  event announcement right before the semi
finals began.  i think it wasn't really advertised.

I don't normally pay attention to contest stuff, but decided to watch that finals link. Only other Tampa footage I remember is when Busenitz killed it several years ago by actually doing a run - as opposed to skaters like the guy who won this year, who just do a trick on the rail, come back to the same end of the park and do another trick on the rail. Pretty damn boring. Crazy that you can win a contest by doing that.

I agree, didn't even know that this was happening until it was already over. I typically know when Tampa AM/Pro but this one really slipped through the cracks in terms of marketing.

I for one, really disliked the winning run. It was so boring that I fell asleep during it. I had to rewatch it to see that he basically did the same tricks on the same obstacle. This was seriously the run that won 1st place? He's obviously really good, but I'm kinda left disappointed.

Being Portuguese myself, I'm biased for sure but I was damn stoked that Gustavo owned it. And basically the whole event was dominated by portuguese people. Jorge Simoes owned the best trick and was the first classified on saturday going straight to the finals. If he had a little more luck on sunday coulda been him taking the 1st place. He's an hometown hero for people from Porto so we were really rooting for him, still the best skater in Portugal tho.
Still rad that Gustavo own, he's a 16 years old kid who is really fucking good. I'm not a huge fan of his style but he still has a lot to grow and you cant deny the dificulty of the tricks on his run, even if the flow is not the best. Tranny skating is not even a thing in Portugal (we dont have skateparks everywhere) so I think that impacts how you connect tricks and flow through the park a lot. But who the fuck bigger flips front board on a contest run, thats just regular.
