polar 1991 shape
9.25 tapers to 8.75.
indy 159 stock
stf v5 55
reds

i set this up a few weeks ago but ive only gotten to skate it once because ive been sick.
my previous setup was an 8 so this is quite a change but after the first session dealing with new
trucks was the biggest issue so i think its going to end up really fun.

Here's my gonz setup, finally got to ride it today, its a blast! Pretty awkward to ollie at first, but if you just treat it the same as any other deck its all gravy..

krooked roost 9.56
indy 215s
stf 55mm
super redz
jessup

You get super wheelbite with these 215s unless you crank them down, use risers, or harder bushings.

People who are skating the Dane1 shape, what size trucks you have on those? Currently I have some 159 Doom Sayers Indy's on it, but sometimes I wonder should I put 169's on  :-\  Love the shape!

Any new observations on the Big Egg shape Steve? I'm thinking about picking one up and will also be pairing it with some 159s.

I like it so much that I bought a second one for a backup.  It really doesnt feel big at all but the extra room for foot placement is awesome.  Unfortunately I've been out of commission due to a mountain biking crash and haven't had much time on it the last week

Thanks for the quick response, sounds like a pretty fun size/shape. Sucks to hear about you crashing, I hope it is not too bad and that you'll be back on board soon.

Definitely go with 169s. They fit perfectly with the 56mm conical full spits I have on it. You could go with a much thinner wheel and it would still be great.

Just set this up today: Skaterbuilt OG Pig (12x34, 17wb), Ace 66's with Krux cushions and Khiro soft pivot cups, 65mm 96a Powerflex 5 wheels with Black Panthers, 3/4" risers. Gonna put rails on next week. Fast as hell, the Aces combined with the hella high risers makes for incredibly deep turns. Super fun addition to the quiver.

Hard to read you there. The board is weird but fun. I'm not jumping down anything or flipping anything anymore and really like riding big (10"+ boards). I have a cruiser and a pool board that are both 9.25" but that's about as small as I like nowadays. re: the risers, I don't want to deal with wheel bite but I like big wheels and loose trucks, and I'm not small (6'2, 225).

17" wb is creeping into long board territory, I'm sure it's a blast to ride though...

No disrespect intended! It's just a really unique setup. It's like a guy with no arms and no legs playing soccer.. I just have to stare. No judgement, it's just interesting.

it is! Chuck Hults makes boards with big wheelbases, even if they’re shorter: i’ve got his Killdozer deck, which is 11"x 30 7/8" with 16 3/4"wb. A blast for slappies and pool carving, especially. The Dogtown Big Foot is around the same, 17wb and about 12x31. Those big wheelbases are something i’ve only been trying out in the last six months or so, but I’ve always liked around 15.5wb as a minimum.

I’ll spare you the pictures when I set up a Simon Woodstock-style skimboard with trucks as a slappy tank this summer.

I think this board is 9.25". I can't really do flip tricks as it is but I think wheel size is more of a factor for me than deck width.

Winkowski
Indy 159tis with 1/16 risers
Oj 56 insanes
Hard luck six balls
Finally took this thing out yesterday, skated awesome. Im a little afraid of rolling my ankle off the front but whatever. Tricks felt fine even with the long ass WB. I think the short length negates it. Landed some kickflips, front shoves switch and reg, and even landed a slappy noseslide.
Man the long board truck thing killed indy for me. I was willing to set aside the racism, but long boarding, gtfo... - DH

Been on 8.5” for a while with indy 149s, want to move up to an 8.75” or a 9”. Can I counteract the overhang with some extra washers and big conical wheels? I would love to not buy new trucks.

Love this thread, been lurking forever and keep coming back to look at these setups.
