it's private but he says anyone who contributes can skate, BBQ and get a suntan. if i fully believed him it would be almost tempting to drop $20, go to the big island and demand CSG makes me lunch while i carve their backyard.

This seems a little different. Dude probably isn't that hard up, he's been tattooing for a long time. This seems more just like a mutually beneficial opportunity, he's looking at people who are in the area to help out in exchange to skate it.

Yup.
My friend's dog got into an accident so a gofundme page was set up eventually to help out with medical costs, but it was mainly sent to friends. If you can't skate it, maybe it wasn't intended for you?

I don`t get the hate, seems mellow, anytime I`ve done diy shit I definitely put the word out that contributions in crete or labour are welcome, if I lived in Kona I`d get in on this. If it`s in his yard all the better, just means it won`t get torn down anytime soon.

I don't have a problem with crowdsourcing DIY spots or anything. I often donate to them, whether it's a spot I personally skate or not. This just gave me the vibe that he wants to build something extravagant for himself and might let some donors stop by if they're around. But maybe I'm wrong, I dunno. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If he's legit about inviting anyone who donates over for a beer, bbq and a chance to skate with him, then this is actually legit. If he's just trying to fund a backyard bowl with no intention of following through on the beer and bbq, then it is wack.
