Love this clip:

I've told this story multiple times, but I was at Love when Ishod was trying the switch flip down the four, and people were kinda talking shit, calling him a "black hipster", cause he was wearing a flannel, and everyone I talked to didn't really know who he was.

What gentleman's club did you go to, and who'd you see at UT?
Let me know if you come back, we can catch a show there.
I used to work there like 8 years ago when it was a fucking Spaghetti Warehouse, they've transformed it from the worst restaurant to probably my favorite venue in the city. I've seen so many good shows there.

ah man paging deepernoah he was the pal who lived there and had the open door policy- what a fuggin host!

the spot was club risqué
which wasnt even butt ass naked but it beats the pants of the "clubs" in virginia
im told the club around the corner gets really gnarly with dildos and such hahaha

ut we saw a bunch of folks a few different times
caught spindrift black angels and dead meadow one night-and the next night fucking boris played we had no idea til we saw a flyer- definitely stayed an extra day for that.
both nights were fantastic
another time we caught bmsr and the L was a flowing so that was great
then another time it was allah lahs and black angels
plenty of other rad venues too
forgot where we saw radio moscow and graveyard i was beyond wastoid mode that night
had a shitty wet day on one trip and saw freakin beanie baby tom asta casually killing black diamond(is that the name?)
then kyle nicholson showed up...and we all stopped skating
also saw kyle nicholson dominate that warehouse pool, and willy akers powering through there
all the skaters that ive met there were super down and cool as a cucumber
the ledges at love were so buttery kind and accepting

also this bakery potito's had me hooked from day one

dude i will most certainly give you a holler if i break free and head north sometime!
honestly since me and my girl had our son we havent looked into any shows in what feels like forever!

Love Philly. I go back whenever I can.
My mom is from south Philly -Lithuanian/Polish (3rd and Wharton -surrounded by Italians) and I spent many childhood summers there. Siting on the stoop drinking Franks sodas eating the best pizza while watching the Mummers practice.
Best food city in the US.
It can be the friendliest and the harshest place to live. If you grow up there you can handle yourself.
My mom looked up Ricky back in the 90’s because I skated and she knew I liked him. She literally called him up out of the blue and he offered to burn one down with her. She declined but he wrote me a cool little note on a deck, threw in some wheels and a 1st Division t shirt I wish I still had...

Yeah that was the name at one point. It was renamed a bunch of times. I just always called it x park. You can put a RIP next to that one too.

I've seen a few great shows at Union Transfer but I also feel like it's the place where acts I like go when they've gotten big or are on a downswing.

If I've seen a band at UT and a smaller venue like First Unitarian or North Star (RIP), the smaller one was always the better show.

JAesop: I can see St Casimirs from my window. Guess I'm neighbors with your mom.

-Philadelphia Experiment skateboards

-Late night skating at the post office on 9th and Chestnut, then trying to skate the parking lot bump/bank to the top of the PATCO stop a block or two away, then chinatown.

-so many great spots that are RIP

Fuck yeah, man. Damian was a beast. Literally saw him push from Washington Ave all the way to city hall without putting his foot on the board. Just push, push, push, push. Definitely deserves a spot in Philly history.

Was lucky enough to go to college there in the early 2000s and saw some of the most raw skateboarding around at the time. People talk "core" shit these days. Everything about Philly during that time was as real as it gets. I didn't realize at that time, but I was witnessing an extra special era. Damian Smith, Rich Adler, Jack Sabback....fucking so many dope ass skateboarders there during that time. I actually have a hi-8 tape that has Wennings sb180 into the fountain on it.

Moved to chicago after philly, and while its incredible, it just couldn't touch those vibes from the early 00s in Philly.

So much stuff, and I still made huge oversights even. Nothing even from FDR, Muni, or the Septa station under City Hall, it's kinda crazy really.

To this day I get a kick out of the skatestoppers on this ledge because it’s CHEST HIGH and that curb cut is barely a kicker.
