Down Hill Race
« on: May 12, 2018, 03:35:55 PM »
How sick would it be if there was an annual downhill race with all 100 pros, like the one that settled things in Thrashin'? and no touching or t shirt grabbing.

Etn did one it was super gnarly. But Etn has gone downhill. I'm not paying for one game of skate a week, and it's not even live.  Wtf is that shit?

We did that and a cop smashed a kid over a car and then the kid got charged with assault on an officer.

I'd definitely back this. Met a guy who does hardwheel sliding, which is basically downhill long boarding on a regular set up. Guy had a gorgeous BS powerslides.

Oldest annual downhill race in North America is happening in Canada as we speak.

Some of it is gnarly

Full disclosure: I kinda respect the legit downhill longboarders. The ones who do powerslides and rock slider gloves and break 60 mph are a very different breed than the hungover frat bro in flip flops pushing across campus on his Santa Cruz longboard.

But yeah, downhill contests are rad and gnarly on real skateboards too. Snack did a couple on Dolores in SF and Roughneck hardware had one on the back 9 hill route about a decade ago

Do you recall who won the Roughneck one? For some reason I have it in my head that it was Tommy Wisdom, but that doesn't seem correct.

That's what I'm thinking of! I think Roughneck put on that contest too if I'm not mistaken.

That was the Hubba contest.
The back 9 race was won by Chris Dunn.
