Me and some friends are thinking about going to Atlanta at the end of the month and I was trying to see if anyone knows where some good spots are, O and cheap lodging.

Fourth ward and Brook Run are both very fun and free outdoor parks. Fourthward is more vert/tranny oriented while Brook Run has street and vert areas  ;D

D Park is the best place to skate in the entire city. If you're looking for "famous" spots, skate up and down Peachtree street. If you don't have a car, you're fucked.

Thanks guys, so peachtree is the place to go for street spots.
Is there a good core shop there that we could pop into and ask for a tour of spots?

I'm not from Atlanta, hell I've never even been there, but I would imagine that shop is Stratosphere. (http://www.stratosphereskateboards.com)

some of the marta stations downtown are fun. peachtree station and north avenue station. across from north avenue station is bell banks. you'll recognize it. but there's stuff all up and down peachtree for sure. stratosphere is near downtown, they might could point you towards some spots.

the people at ambush board co are cool, but about 20min outside the city.

going to Atlanta in December going to be staying near sandy springs-  is brook run the closest worry free outdoor place to skate? i would be interested in checking out the peach tree banks as well if anyone has a good address i can use to look it up on google maps that would be great.

Brook run is probably your best bet for the area you're in -- it's a great warm-up spot, as it's barely a mile or two away from the highway. If you're in Sandy Springs, you'll be super close to Ruin, the best shop in Atlanta, as well, so you should visit. I think there's something like 30 streets in Atlanta named 'peachtree', so I'm not sure what the peachtree banks are.

If you go to Brook Run I'll be the old guy that keeps falling down. I look kinda like my avatar. Hope to see you there. It's a fun park.

Nice I'll be the guy that's way too old to be as bad at skating as I actually am and and making it a point to tell people I'm not from the area

I'm in ATL right now. If the rain ever stops i should be skating downtown and brook run monday morning. If the rain doesn't stop... Are there any indoor parks near by and worth going to? It looks like black diamond went under

If you can afford to drive a bit, Hazzard co is really rad! there is also a little park called insanity not too far away, the locals are kinda kooky but no helmets and $5 to skate all day is hard to beat

You fellas are as nice as all the people I met today. Georgia is cool as hell.

Also recommend anyone in the area go to ruin to at least buy something cheep to support these guys. I came in looking like a nerd and they treated me with nothing but respect and were totally fine just shooting the shit with me while I talked to someone that was not my girlfriends family. Copped a back 40 shirt a ruin shirt. Truely a Great shop.

is there something new to the city thats really good to skate? just watched the skating around atlanta ride clip with justin brock and that city seems pretty rad
black box spot still around?
does one need a car or is public transport/ skating sufficient to come around downtown?
any recommendations for cheap airnbnbs/hotels near downtown?

any tips (spots, bars, parks, shops, accomodation, etc.), thoughts etc. are appreciated! thanks

Black blocks is still a go.
Try to get a car if you can , the good spots are pretty spread out
Stratosphere is a good shop, I prefer Ruin but it’s a bit further out.
Chi poni has dope Indian street food.
Brook run, Fowler, D park, are all pretty fun
4th ward if you like getting vertical.

As far as food goes EATS on Ponce de Leon is awesome and affordable. There are two registers at the cafeteria-like restaurant, go for the one that serves meat and 3's. The other one is pasta and probably alright but trust me go for the soul food. The jerk chicken, collard greens, mac and cheese, and other soul food selections with the occasional Jamaican twist are fucking bomb. Last time I was in there they were playing really good dub and roots reggea too.
