I'll take the most washed out VX footage ever over this:

A good video is a good video for a multitude of reasons, least of which being the camera. If people filmed like this on vx it would be ass, it’s ass in 16:9 too.

I got off instagram last June and I have to say that my mental health and meaningful friendships are better than they've ever been. one of the reasons I was on it in the first place was for all the skate footage, but now you have youtube channels who aggregate footage from all the pros instagram accounts and stories.

everyone says, "oh, I have to use social media to stay in touch with my friends and family." thats total bullshit. if they're really your friends you will stay in touch with them without social media.

I relate to this as well. Deleting FB and IG improved my mental health. Remember when you never had social medias back in the days and it was frowned upon on. Now it’s the other way around

they definitely are, but that's not the point. i wouldn't even call that an unpopular opinion, it's a fuckin fact. the half cab pros they used to make had the stripe and they looked wack as fuck (i'm saying that as a person who skated quite a few pairs of those). check the pics.

I agree the stripe is doo doo, the two middle shoes also benefit from not having red labels on the sides or the ugly red heel stamp.

Yeah, it’s interesting what’s happening. I’m also an avid basketball player and the increasing hyper-connectivity of everything has been seen as a huge net positive in hooping circles. It’s given to the rise of independent shoe brands who are making improved versions of discontinued models that everyone loved like the Kobe 9 or the Dame Lillard 2. It’s like opposite of what’s going on in skateboarding.

I'm not a purist for any camera, but my point is that it's weird to me that VX is the controversial filming topic when stuff like this is the norm.

I’m sure this isn’t even a remotely unpopular opinion amongst old farts but I was watching the new Etnies tour video (and this goes for probably every tour video now) but the hugging and homie reaction shots were just relentless.

My wife walked in on me watching Welcome To Hell yesterday and said “You can watch these old videos and I won’t complain. I don’t like the new ones.”

I think this was mostly due to her having the hots for 90’s skater boys (which helped my prospects a suitor immensely), the clothing fits, and the VHS-C nostalgia.

But she’s also complained about new videos being bro-y, self serious and not fun.

agree, the easy-steezy, can-do-everything-switch zeitgeist is phenomenal when you consider what they're doing, but my eyes glaze over when everything is always bolts and looks like they're not even trying.
