I’d say 80% of my wardrobe is skate clothing with the other 20% being stuff that my parents/sister bought me for Xmas or my bday. Does that make me a kook? So be it.  I’m totally fine with supporting brands that pay skaters I like and do rad things for skateboarding. Not all of it is trash, especially with the new crop of cool brands. I guess the unpopular opinion here is that it’s totally fine to buy/wear clothes from skate brands.

 Salman Agah winning this shit is extremely baffling.

All he did, was just an A+ for effort doing switch. His real video part was extremely overrated. Boring early stage switch snoozers and the ender was funny with that bible quote.

 If they really hanged for creativity they would’ve done Rodney Mullen

Rodney Mullen’s virtual reality part do I have to explain it?? amazing. blasting away from the freestyle world perfectly landing onto the streets.

But at the same time Laban became obscure with his juggling shit so yeah.

Laban for the past few years was constantly shifting and evolutionizing his style to a point where Laban’s “memoirs” part of the invisible team became a high note for him at least. 90s gnar add it’s finest paired with some rooftop action but it end’s with E MOTHER M FUCKING B. Kickflip

Yeah not to also mention his “caught cleaness” (bolts but actually in the heels I’d like to think of)

This reminds me of another maybe unpopular opinion: Make SOTY less relevant again. I don´t think people gave too much of a shit about it in the early 90s. Would be nice to have that back and video parts spread more evenly during the year.

I remember watching Gnar Gnar back in -07 on some weekend night. The ending section of Gonz pushing around Flushing Meadows while ’Bridge over troubled water’ playing made my eyes wet. So beautiful…

So I rewatched (not the first rewatch by any means) the whole thing last night. Still a pure and really fun video overall. Great to see Drehobl’s street footage. Such a genius move to use the same New Order song three times.

Girl/chocolate in the 90s was always kinda boring. There were a few really great skaters on the teams - Guy, Sheffey and Koston, and a bunch of guys who were very good but not very original. Their vids were 40 minutes of crooked grinds and flip tricks at the same two schools.

Andrew Reynolds does absolutely nothing for me. I’m sorry but whatever chemical everyone else has in their brains that makes watching him enjoyable, I must be missing. Not knocking him, he clearly deserves his flowers.
