What happened with Miles Wheels Co?
« on: September 29, 2023, 12:48:54 PM »
Does anyone know what ever happened with Miles Wheels Co.? I remember there being a company that was designing slip on soft wheels to place over hard wheels. I think Kenny Reed was involved and they may have changed the company’s name after Miles grip came out.

Anyone here know what came of that company? Kind of a weird idea but I sort of wanted to try them out.

They realized making slip on soft wheels was a terrible idea when one of them ate shit bombing a hill after the wheel "slipped" off.

This seems like the kind of thing that would warp or stretch after a few uses and either be dangerously loose or bound so tight you'll need mechanical force to get it off and probably fuck your trucks up in the process. It's somehow even dumber than the shoe cover Kickstarter that got passed around a few years back.

I can’t imagine this is a mechanically sound idea..

Seems like you’d be bombing a hill, carve tight and a shear force would pull them off.

Stretch out in the heat? Too stiff in the cold? Seems like they’re testing it in Goldilocks weather since they know these are probable issues. Cool idea for campus bros. I can see these soft cock rings getting chipped on something and then ripping when you try to take them off/put them on.

Edit: also what about conforming to different wheel specs? You would have to ride ‘about’ the same wheel size/shape no? Or if your wheel gets just small enough that they don’t fit while you’re skating a spot then you just carry these burnt calamari slices in your pocket.

They're selling the wheels too. Come on, you didn't think they were only going to bring one unnecessary and inferior product to the market did you?
