Doug Brown reminds me of this dude Al Garcia that lived right by where I grew up. He started two different companies and turned himself pro for both. He was a spitting image of Doug Brown, skating wise. He skated slower than anyone I've seen, and just did weird tricks on flatground. Nollie 360 heelflips and stuff. But he always hung around with 12 year old kids even though the dude was pushing late 20's, back then. The funniest story ever though is about him.
There was a contest at that Skate Street place in Ventura where he entered both the street and vert contests. He got almost dead last, if not that in street, then the vert contest came up. It was time for his run, and he was standing on the top of the ramp waiting to drop in. The announcer said, "Al Gar, you have 60 seconds" and he just stood there waiting to drop in. "Al Gar, you have 45 seconds..." Still waiting. "Al Gar, you have 30 seconds... Al Gar, you have 15 seconds... Al Gar, you have 10 seconds.. 5 seconds..." And once he said that Al tried to drop in and just ate soooo much shit. It was probably the funniest thing of all time.
I would look for stuff on youtube but my girlfriend just got out of the shower and is yelling at me for not paying attention to her. So yeah, somebody will have to do that.
