Thrasher wants you to choose the next part for the “classics” series. What’s it gonna be and why. What’s your intro gonna say.
https://youtu.be/YCU-qgR_4bM
-
Ricky Oyola 411 part consisting of 4 or 5 long lines, no single tricks, if I remember correctly.
Edit: here it is. One single trick, just 2 lines, including switch wallie. NBD and seldom repeated since so instant classic imho. Great song too.
https://youtu.be/vp_lDiODSC4
-
Jamal smiths sabotage 4 part. It's got love park(rest in peace), always gets me hyped to skate, song kinda rules and poptart Pete has unique tricks that only he's really doin. Oh and the I'll switch tre.
-
Next classic should be Mindfield without Borra and Mikey's part.
-
What’s up everyboardy I’m johnes and this is my classic pick: Marc John fully flared, I can’t imagine being at the premier and not knowing when this part was gonna end, 13 minutes long. For me this video just shows that Marc was the goat, video is kind of divided into sections during some parts- manual section, ledge section, rail section
and MJ was drunk for most of the tricks. Great lines, some crazy hammers, Lipslide up a picnic table to nose blunt down a picnic table in the rain. This is MJs magnum opus

Hey yo what up. This is GS77. Today I wanted you to peep Pepe Martinez Fine Artists Vol 1 part. Growing up in NJ we could get to Philly but DC felt like another level. Pulaski started plaza skating and Pepe and Andy Stone were the guys. The camera work sucks but the flavor is real. R.I.P. to a real one...

The whole Real - Non Fiction video is probably the most influential video on my skating, with a plethora of fantastic parts (Drake Jones, Huf, Gonz, Matt Field, et al), Tommy takes the cake for me, especially now as I'm in my 30's and skating these same spots on a regular basis.

Edited (apologies to OP)
I don't think you can pick a TWS part but my first choice is Heath Kirchart in Sight Unseen. One of the most influential parts of all time. And it's a Transworld video. Sorry, Thrasher...cue the Thrasher classics music:

Brent Atchley Elementality.
For me, I was gonna say this or Dressen's Speed Freaks part
Alright, as someone pointed out, I didnt do an intro. Here it is:
Hey guys, BBB here, for my classic part I chose Brent Atchley's Elementality part. This video was a joke for the most part and I only saw it because my girlfriend's friend's Mallrat BF had a copy. Anyhow, he puts it on and this was the first I'd seen of Brent. Now, I'm not a park skater but Brent's style and fun factor can't be denied. That line in the beginning when he lets the board float up as he pushed over that little funbox really set the tone, and it wasn't even a trick really. People always say if you could skate like this dude or that dude.... Brent would be my pick. Damn shame we didn't get more of him. Little shifty olly down the ramp dock, crazy snapped 360 flips with his back foot kicking his own butt, Burnside carnage, etc.... what else do you want?
-
What’s up everyboardy I’m johnes and this is my classic pick: Marc John fully flared, I can’t imagine being at the premier and not knowing when this part was gonna end, 13 minutes long. and MJ was drunk for most of the tricks.

I was at the Australian premiere and couldn’t understand why the last part of such an amazing video had three songs worth of someone gutter-climbing from boardslide position into different tricks.

As far as what I would say... Probably "I was a huge Lotti fan especially after Hokus Pokus. Me and my dudes were all about Hensley & Sal of course, but Lotti decimating those curbs and the flip manual combos with such style, that was my jam. This part influenced my own skating 100%. Killing it casually, Lotti is the man"

I think they took it of YT due to music rights. I only knew it was still up because I looked last night on both sites to see what all they had even done as classics at this point.
-
Andrew Reynolds in Stay Gold. Does that count as a classic yet? It came out 10 years ago.
Yes. Probably my choice too. In my intro I would ramble emotionally about it being the magnum opus of arguably the GOAT skate career, the story arc of Drew’s life and getting sober and skating harder than ever despite the unrelenting sands of time, fully giving in to the “madness” and redoing every trick until it was just how he wanted it. *Thrasher cuts off the camera as I’m sobbing explaining how many times I watched his part in The End*
-
besides the terrible intro this part is really good imo, cannon fucking rips for a bigger dude. not to mention the credit he deserves for doing all this in those shitty ass world industries shoes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaBWYZJjy8s&list=LL&index=54
-
For the sake of my username, this part... (which I actually do love). My short blip: "Cody won Tampa Am '06 in an XXL white t-shirt and then dropped this absolute banger of a part in 2008. 2 NBD's on Carlsbad. Lynyrd Skynyrd. Last part. 'Nuff said."
https://youtu.be/2IOLsARFwXk
Other choice is this Russ Milligan part, purely because when I first watched it, I didn't know his stance until he pushed switch mongo on one line and I was amazed. An actual switch god. Song is amazing too.
https://youtu.be/TXWqy7qcx-A
Quick edit: A part I actually think would end up on Classics is Mike Mo's Forecast part.

I see one Peter Hewitt part (which was pretty amazing) but was wondering if anyone had thought about people like:
Wade Speyer
John Cardiel
Dan Drehobl
The ATV annihilation army from the real classics era.
A not so old one is TNT, but I guess even Tony Trujillo is considered old nowdays.
That was a dece era, people hate tnt these days and going of shit you hear he’s blowing it but fuck that was a sick part, free your mind was a good one

At first I was a bit disappointed : lots of bails, the part is quite short and as a Hsu fan.... but then I remembered Jerry’s stance and I realized the whole part was switch.
Also this is the part that doesn’t embellish being a pro, all the bails / battles / temper tantrums at the beginning are not glamourized, you can see the guy is on the edge, he’s falling like a rag doll and seems exhausted by skateboarding.
-
JJ in Mindfield because that wallie to fs tailside is still my favorite trick of all time

This is big baby jesus and I had a really hard time picking one part. Ricky in EE3, HUF in Penal Code, aaron Herrington or JJ in static IV were all contenders but my favorite part that gets me hyped to skate is Scott Johnson in Mad Circles Let The Horns Blow. Skating is timeless and the song choice is perfect.

Thought about it more and I know I'm probably going to get flamed for this but my real answer is Tyshawn in Blessed. It's just too good of a part and every time I watch it I feel the same way as I did when it came out. Not too many other parts will do that for me.

I don’t know how to say this because the guy’s an amazing skater and his accomplishments are very impressive. But some people, him being one, just make me pro skateboarding isn’t really a good thing. I remember when Nyjah cracks his head in that Nike part trying a switch front feeble at Hollywood High and my first thought was - is this worth it? And why have an industry that encourages people to break themselves so they can do slightly harder tricks than the last guy who skated that spot? I’d be stoked enough on Jerry’s lower impact skating.

I totally agree with you, I just wanted to say that the way it was edited doesn’t make the battles cool to me. When I watched the part when it came out, it didn’t make me want to destroy myself trying tricks. The part as a « dark » that made me love it after watching it multiple times.

what? dude i didn't know that. i mean i watched the video before but tbh never payed that much attention nor knew that. that is crazy!

Oh really? Damn haha
Mates and I used to watch this part heaps and the consensus was regs cause of ender and the lip slide kinda looks switch
But if it’s freddy doing the ender yeah you’d be right for sure

still a sick part, 50s on round rails just don't get old. thought i saw uncle freddy in there, but the kits are pretty similar, so it was more the posture. 5050 180 on the rail with the beanie was freddy?
-
Definitely a legendary part. Freddy starts with the back five oh back 180 out and I think ends with gap out to the street. Either that or Jerry Fisher has a really amazing looking switch ollie. Pretty sure the ender is Jerry.
Only reason I knew it was Freddy for sure was that ollie up gap over to front 50 on that long rail because he's talked about it in interviews and I think he had been up all night partying the day he got that clip. I used to think the whole part was Jerry Fisher too.

Dont know if I've said it before in this thread, and look, its not the greatest part ever, but there's just something about it that i enjoy a lot and thats why i would pick Greco's 'baker2g' part

Since someone already said Heath in Sight Unseen, and most of my other favourite parts are already Thrasher Classics or have been said by someone else, I'll throw down two other ones.
I was very hyped on this part when it came out. I'm not usually a fan of Faces of Death style clips but somehow they work well with the song and are a good contrast to Paul's smooth, tech skating.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z2wMDBUfUM
and
Dr. Z at maybe his best. This part cemented in my brain that he is a GOAT. He is doing shit in this that was so far ahead of the game. I don't think there are many people on his level of switch skating.

I think I'd go with Dane Brady's "I like It Here Inside My Mind" part. I was tempted to write about parts that influenced me when I was younger like JJ in Mindfield, Wastell in Kronichles, or Antwuan in Baker 3, but this part just stands out so much from anything else. I still have a lot of fun watching it. It's full of really great skating and the crazy "circus" tricks are done without coming off as contrived or outrageous.
Come to think of it, a big reason I like JJ's Mindfield part is for the switch wallie/wallride tricks, and Dane does some insane ones in this video (sw wallie fs 360?). The edit is wonderful too, fell in love with the song immediately.

I mean there are plenty of people that are like "why are you that old and still watch ryan gallants first love part ?. That's something you do when you are a kid". But they will never understand it like i can't explain to them why i love it and those people will never get it. The people that watched it now exactly the feeling. You get home from school and there is the DVD over there and you want to go watch it. All day you just think i can't wait to go watch ryan gallants first love part.

Skating is timeless and the song choice is perfect.

god level pick. Pepe Martinez's part in Fine artists also needs a mention.

Fun fact, Jovontae's Love Child part is on Thrasher's website as a Classic, but not on YouTube for some reason.

Something about how they edited those Transworld videos in the mid-2000s made them perfect to watch right as you got home from school before you went out and skated until the sunset.
