Been watching some 80s Almodovar.   Anyone a big fan of his?

That anthogy about revenge he produced a few years back, "Wild Tales," was good.

Hmm I’ll look into that

Wild Tales was by Argentinian Damian Szifron (and highly recommended)

It makes Wellington, NZ look so beautiful and interesting, especially earlier on in the movie where they're establishing the setting. I've wanted to visit ever since seeing that movie.

Saw this movie Wanda in a theater a few nights back, just realized it's on yt too:

Was initially just excited to see it cause most of it was shot in rural eastern Pennsylvania, which is not really a hotspot for movie filming, but I really liked it

Kind of reminded me of a bleaker and more raw/less polished version of Badlands

Return of the Living Dead is so awesome. About twice a year I'll order a pizza and watch it.

I watched Asteroid City and I liked it.
The story wasn't my favorite but not bad.
The sets, cinematography and color palette were sweet, sweet eye candy.

I also watched Roadhouse the other day so that was pretty cool.

I saw The Green Knight remake the other day. As someone who wasted a few youthful afternoons watching the Sean Connery/Miles O’Keefe version, this felt a little bit like you took that movie and asked an AI to “remake as an A24 film”.

It lost my attention at points (which was not helped by being watched on Pluto TV with commercials).

That said, it was very pretty, I liked Dev Patel’s performance a lot, and the different ending was appreciated.

Hah I watched Roadhouse and Asteroid City in the same week recently as well.   I liked Asteroid City, but I accidentally fell asleep for like 15 minutes early on and whilst I enjoyed the movie, I couldn’t quite make out what it was about about.

^just watched that the other day too. Made me kinda bummed because it is so good but they'll never make a movie like it again that could be released in theatres and make money.

Also watched some of the out-laws which was so bad I had to then watch dumb and dumber just to make sure my brain wasn't broken

Had fun seeing Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning. Not too familiar with the series to give much value other than it was at least a fun movie worth watching if you want an action blockbuster

It’s been a bit, but is it more than just the famous car chase?

Yeah but not a lot really. It's just nice to get in, get things rolling, have a nice action scene and get out.

Yea!   What I’m really interested to see is how James Gunn does Superman bc he’s never really done a straight protagonist narrative.   guardians, suicide squad, and peacemaker are all ensemble/team pieces.

Also, god help me, but I’m having a blast watching Extraction 2.    That first extraction (not a spoiler) is just so over the top you can’t help but admire it.

I was gonna say I have but it turns out everything I had seen was early 90s. I need to at least see Matador and Women on the Verge...

Rewatched The Frighteners as a palette cleanser after Ghostbusters Afterlife. I miss comedy horror Peter Jackson.

Finally cracked my partner's Viva Almodovar DVD box set we've had for years. I had already seen Pepi Luci Bom and it's one of my favorite movies but that's also pretty... loose in terms of even being a movie. We started Nervous Breakdown and I think it was a little too slow for the day we were having, but I liked where it was going.

Not Almodovar but you may like this movie El Planeta. About a mother and daughter in Spain navigating money issues in a modern setting. Saw it a couple years ago at a special screening and really enjoyed it.

Im on a Nick Cage kick right now.

Unbearable weight of a massive talent. Goddamn I love his performance so much, with all his over the top overacting and everything. I need to rewatch Face-Off and 8MM next. Also, Pig was great too.

Yeah Mandy was wild. And all the other ones that were mentioned, Nick is an all-time. I just wish he didnt have to do all the shitty ones from like 10-15 years ago due to him being an idiot with money.
