venture bushings
« on: December 27, 2015, 11:58:59 PM »
I've been riding thunders for a couple years now because they grind well and turn super well and just switched back to ventures. The last time i had ventures, the bushings were hard as rock so I had to switch them out with bones bushings. Now that ventures is under dlx, should i just keep the stock bushings or should i replace them with bones bushings. I weight 160lb and i like my shit medium loose.

The highs turn just fine with the stock bushings.

Can't speak to the turn or lack there of on the lows.

I have hi's with stock bushings. Love them! I ride med-loose too. They're soft and turny.Give them a try before getting aftermarket bushings.

Blew out stock bushing on Hi’s
I have a mishmash of bushings and nothing seems to be fitting right even if bushings are same as stock.
Anyone got Bush tips?

I personally can’t stand them. Ventures are a must change for me. Bones Hardcore medium or hard depending on your weight and truck height are my recommendation. You might need to sand the top of your bottom bushings down slightly for them to fit though.

It’s preference though.  They don’t feel any different to me than the OG Venture bushings.

Venture (highs) stock bushings are the same height, top and bottom, as Indy barrel bushings. Easy way to experiment. I can snap a pic later for the curious.

💯 . About a year ago I would just swap the stock with softer dlx bushings now I don’t touch them . Don’t tighten done loosen just leave them alone and break them in . I have the ti ventures and they broke in perfect now I’m breaking in the 6.1

Here's the pic of some 90d Indy bushings and stock Venture Hi's from some 5.8's. As stated above the DLX supercush/bait and tackle are the same dimensions as well,

Ace and Bones also fit. Loads of the Venture riders use Bones, no washer on bottom, washer on top. Karl Watson and PJ are 2 that come to mind.

The stock bushings are great once broken in. Specially the green stock ones.

i'd also say stick with the stocks. they are totally fine. a little harder than standard indy bushings. i think venture standard purple is 92a? orange indy barrell aftermarkets are 90, so if you feel the standards are a little too hard, maybe try those.

I tried mine with some Riptide Street Cones and with Bones Mediums and ended up going back to the stock. The turn just felt better to me with stock. I did replace the pivots with Riptides though to quiet things down.

I’m going back to Indy
If I’m going to ride Indy bushings in my trucks I should just ride trucks that turn.
Ventures were a nice change of pace but they feel terrible for me, made me appreciate Indy

whats the duro of the stock bushings?
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

Can't speak to the turn or lack there of on the lows.

in weather warmer than 20 degrees.

In riding a bones top because of the cold.

Also red bushings are softer than purple ones i found out.

Personally I don't think so. I have some cast with white ones, forged with purple ones. Feel the exact same to me. Although, people go on about white Thunder bushings being better than whatever other colour Thunder bushing... even though it's all clear urethane with dye added to it. Logistically it would make zero sense for a company like DLX to have separate formulas for different coloured 90d urethane bushings.

Ditch the top washer and/or put on a flat top washer.

Stock bushings are crap they even look shitty.

ACE tall bottoms, low tops - pain to pick up two sets but they work great.

Bones med bottom/soft top are pretty sweet for Ventures TBH (bones washer on bottom) but again two different sets.

I'm going give them one more shot this weekend if they don't thrill me I'm going to sell'em off (5.6 V-Hollows back to stock).

I'll gently disagree. I find the stock bushings in Ventures to be pretty good (not amazing, but far far from terrible) but they take a loooooong time to break in. Not everyone is going to see that through. Reminds me of how long old Indy bushings took to break in, which was a genuine pain in the ass. My first set of 5.8's took a few months to break in fully, far from the instant gratification effect you get from Ace or Thunder bushings.
