I'm a beginner, but I like how some of these turned out. Taken in New York when I was there last week.
Lumix GX1:

and an iPhone shot from when I didn't have my camera that turned out really good (is that breaking some unspoken rules? haha)

whats with the tumblr, by the way?

played with a flash in my hand and long exposure, trying to learn some new stuff. wanted to get this half-visible night-shot style, getting there slowly.

^ Japan Camera Hunter has one up for $15001600 at the moment.  At least through him you can have some semblance of peace of mind.

whats with the tumblr, by the way?

Let's get this started. Everyone has been posting some great stuff, so we might as well be putting it toward something.  Not that a tumblr page is exactly something..but still.

That photo is sick, by the way, Hercules.

First want to say you guys are all amazing. Im looking to buy a new film camera. I have one that was my moms that she wasn't using anymore but its pretty shitty. Any suggestions? Also trying to keep it relatively cheap, stuck on that college student budget.

it's hard to go wrong with basic 35mm slrs.
Canon AE1, Pentax k1000, Olympus OM1 or OM2, any of the Nikon SLR's (fe2, fm2, etc), will serve you just fine.

if you're not sure if photography is your thing or not yet, check out the Olympus Stylus Epic. It's a durable, sharp, fast point and shoot 35mm camera. It's pretty much all I use anymore. Allows me to think less about settings and more about subject matter when I shoot. Make sure to get the fixed lens 2.8 aperture one though not the zoom one. Check out my flickr, most of the shots were taken with the stylus epic.

mmm, i feel like following other tumblrs would clutter up the feed too much, it's easier to manage if it's just stuff we post.
but it doesn't matter to me really

You gotta pay the customs fee when you order/buy something from non-EU area. Otherwise I would have ordered one long ago...gotta try ebay.de

as far as I know the customs for analog cameras are about 4.2% ... for a 1100 Euro camera it's just 46 Euro more

Sick thanks, probably going with the AE1. I'm definitely into photography, just getting started with film, but your photos with that Olympus are super sick might have to look into that too.

I need to check that out 'cause I've always thought I have to pay VAT (24%)
