Everyone is giving it praise,I've yet to see a shit review by someone thst saw it. Maybe it is good? I don't know. I'm in no rush to see it,but expect my grandma to talk to me about it after seeing Jonah on tv promoting it
From the two times I've seen it at TIFF, although I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, there's no cohesive plot other than let's see what this kid gets into today. His mom and brother get underused in this which kinda sucked, and there aren't many consequences for their actions, felt this especially in the final act. Also, I know it won't matter to a lot of people here, but the dialogue will probably get in some hot water with PC people.
After watching Minding the Gap today, 2018 has been a good year for skateboarding "movies" for the most part. This doc, along with mid90s and Skate Kitchen, here are three movies that each have something skaters to relate to. It wasn't until I watched MTG where it felt a little to real as I can compare those people in the doc to myself and some of my friends I used to skate with - and how much skating was used as an outlet to escape.
