The real question is who will pass the drug test?
-
Concerning drugs, I thought I read they loosened the requirements coming up. Like only testing for amounts equal to a couple days before performing or some shit. Ain't feel like looking for article now though.

WADA would never allow that.
Those participating or potentially participating will start randomized drug tests probably right after christmas

My bad it was just weed that I had read about. "The new threshold for the active ingredient in marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, has been increased from 15 nanograms per millilitre of urine to 150ng/mls."

Some guy from rural China that no one ever heard of who rides for the 'Koston' brand. He'll skate like a mix between Tiago and Nyjah and take slams like early 2010s Leo Romero. He'll take the gold because all the good Americans, Spaniards, Australians, and Brazilians will bomb the drug tests.
-
Most skaters are from USA if it's only one skater representing the country I think it could be
USA Nyjah
Brazil Luan
Australia Shane O neil
Japan Yuto
Canada Decenzo
Colombia David Gonzalez
Germany Willow

France Leo Valls
England Blondie McCoy

I skimmed through a stream of the World Skate Park Championship earlier today. That’s a qualifying event for the Olympics. There were guys from Turkey and India falling on kick turns. So it’ll be interesting to see the disparity between countries. Also, it looks like Yuto will be there for both Street and Park. Dude might low key be one of the best transition skaters in the world.

makes me wonder...because the olympics allows athletes with dual citizenship to represent the country of their choosing, it's not uncommon for olympians to compete for countries they're not from. "for many athletes, changing their national allegiances is the only way to keep their olympic dreams alive, especially if their home country is stacked with talent in their particular sport." https://www.businessinsider.com/why-some-olympic-athletes-have-competed-for-multiple-countries-2018-2 (https://www.businessinsider.com/why-some-olympic-athletes-have-competed-for-multiple-countries-2018-2)
can you think of any skaters that this might apply to? maybe cambodia can grant fred gall some sort of honorary citizenship since he saved all those monks.
-
Stu Graham for Scotland/UK - if for no other reason than to scare the shite out of actual 'athletes'

I'll only watch it if it's like Orange Man / Gou... / heck, even the pirate.

I hope they make an absolute disgrace of skateboarding. Like DUIs, drug possession, vandalism, showing up late as fuck, vomit on the course, forgot to bring a skateboard... I'd watch that.

I second this. The UK has never really had a proper contest circuit, so there aren't many skaters that will be able to compete at this high of a level. It's actually going to be laughable how bad the team will be.

Sky Siljeg has at the very least, posted his acceptance letter to participate in the qualifying events and some clips from the US Olympic Skateboarding meetings. So, him.

Gosha Konyshev is the best skater in Russia, but his style won't translate some rigid Street League scoring bullshit.

i talked to the norwegian tm, and apparently each country can have as big of a team as they'd like, but in order to actually qualify for the olympic events you need to place high enough in certain "olympic approved" contests. so basically if all you can do is drop in and do kickturns, you won't be representing your country in the olympic events because you haven't actually qualified for it.
but apparently some national contests count, so there will be some people that aren't good in the events.
it's going to absolutely suck.
-
Pedro Barros just won the first Olympic qualifying event and proceeded to give the crowd and judges the middle finger. Haha

ever been to the war of the thistles events?
Darryl Dominguez, Div Adam, Benson and Kris Vile could all do really fuckin well if they wanted too.
Theres a bunch of park rippers up here in Scotland, like an inordinate amount for such a small country. Cant Imagine any of them being too keen on the Olympics though..

It will probably be Alex Mizurov or Jost Arens those are the two that usually win the national contests. I don't think Willow has ever skated a contest...
There aren't really any good bowl skaters in Germany though, since they have only in recent years started building decent bowls here.
team Germany recently went to Woodward for a training camp with their national head coach Jürgen Horrwarth to train for the Olympics. They postet a video on youtube. It is as bad as it sounds.

Australia - Shane O'neil Tommy Fynn... Apparently
I read somewhere that Australia already gave Shane medal incentive.
What country is Sewa from?
-
tommy fynn is not australian
-
Nyjah blows out knee in training, Ishod shows up late and misses finals, Shane o'neill is DQ'd for not being able to prove himself 100% human, and Austyn comes out of nowhere to win street gold. Then DQ'd for not wearing uniform properly. Oski wins park.

Medal-ling Money can be used to "encourage" people to represent a country where they have citizenship, I believe Shane has now got citizenship in the US, so they offered him the money to compete for Australia, however he can (and apparently has) turn it down at any time.
As for Tommy, he has a trio, South Africa, New Zealand & Australia, but again according to inside sources he and Brad Saunders are tipped to be "Team Australia" for street unless anything else changes over the next year.

I'll also mention for those commenting on how a lot of countries don't have pro skateboarders of the caliber we see and know through skateboarding competition, not every country is guaranteed to have a rider in these comps, it still goes on world rankings from official events (VPS & Street League), yet their will be maximum amounts each country will have so it may filter down the ranks a bit as the countries meet their quota's, but not far enough that johnny kick-turn ends up against Nyjah or Pedro.
Only the host country is guaranteed 1 spot for the competition
-
Australia - Shane O'neil Tommy Fynn... Apparently
Tommy was born in South Africa so if Oz falls through he could still flip his passport over and still compete.

Correct, the best part is if that was the case, Australian skateboarding would still back him 100% either way as well, dude deserves it!

These dudes are going to be the rockstars of the olympics. Put any of these cookie cutter contest skaters up against say the guys swimming 100m freestyle and they look like Boulala at the height of his drug addiction.
I don't think we understand how much skating will blow up after this fuckery.

I am interested in seeing how they would integrate, how the live crowd would react, if there would be any cross-sport beef going down (eg: skaters vs cross cuntry folk) etc.

It's going to be Skater Dater, Back to the Future, Police Academy 4, THPS, and a 900... times 10.
:P edit for maths pedants (Skater Dater + Back to the Future + Police Academy 4 + THPS + a 900) x10

being in the actual olympic contest is like making the final contest in a series of contests. Like making it to Shanghai in Vans Park Series, or the last street league contest. only the riders that qualify will be in the actual televised olympic contest. everyone can compete for a spot in the main event by doing well in the qualifying events. in the mens contest its possible that not very many different countries will be represented. the womens contest might get weird tho...In olympic women's snowboarding there aren't a ton of contestants. They have qualifying contests all over the world. top 30 contestants qualify for the olympics. some of the qualifying contests only had 28 contestants. Some girl went to all the qualifying events, made the olympic halfpipe contest, and all she could do was basic airs while the real pro chicks were tossing 1080s... In women's skateboarding most of the girls are American. once those slots fill up who knows who might make the contest.
