Some cash to spend, go for clarks desert boots ^

Have a lot of cash to spend(unlikely), go for Alden Chukka boots. Handmade in the us. Beautiful shoes. ^

check out your local shop. depending on how formal you need, these could be a great option

Clarks don't last very long unfortunately. I love Doc Martens but their shoes are pretty ugly.
You should try a thrift store. You can get really nice shoes sometimes and it's much better for the environment.

i work in IT too...

i've got a pair of clarks like the ones above in a darker color for my brown casual shoe.

for my "manly boots" i have these ll bean boots.

doc's just don't feel right anymore and will throw you in a group of weirdo's and kooks at work that is kind of similar to the "used to skate" kind of vibe. it's the staple for the fat bald guys with goatees who "only rock the brown ones these days" and balding goth guys who are holding onto their pony tails.

and for when i need to go one notch higher than business casual i have these prada loafers. you don't have to go with prada or gucci or one of the big name brands, the lower brands all have loafers and copy the styles of the high end brands so you can get in where you fit in. you do get what you pay for though and my pradas have been really comfortable and lasted for over 5 years while never had a good experience with kenneth cole shoes. but brands like kenneth cole have the same styles for way cheaper. i actually like having one pair of high end shoes because i'm a consultant and i think it's good to have a little "i get paid" flair when interacting with clients and i don't wear watches.

and then if you get into laced shoes you are offically no longer casual...

I stumbled upon a pair of these when at Urban with the lady recently. Pretty nice for under $60. They're definitely low profile w thin sole and no heel so they're a bit more of a hybrid than a pure dress shoe, but I wear them to work (business casual environment) and have not received any raised eyebrows. I have both pairs, but think the brown ones are much nicer than the black IMO.

Get the newer Dylan loafers

http://www.gravisfootwear.com/#/products/shoes/mens/rieder/

They have a laced pair, as well. I'm running some discontinued Penguin loafers that are pretty similar. Flat sole, suede.

Yeah I agree with thing about the docs...I'm 18 so they make sense now :)

Don't get urban outfitters shoes, their quality is absolutely really bad.

The LL Bean Khatadins (however they're spelled) are supposed to rule. I really shouldn't post here...the closest thing I wear to shoes are boots.

Depending on how stiff your office is, you can probably get away with some shit like this:

or

I used to wear these to work (biz cas). Even to weddings. They look tight with a suit and no one cares anyway. Black shoes, all set.

Those iridescent Osiris are insane. Is it worse that they make those or that gross teenage girls buy them?
