About a month in on my first pair of 808s. Took awhile to get used to them but now i feel like i have to skate bulky shoes for awhile since ive adapted to them. Looking down at my feet on the board looks sick and they look sick in clips, already ordered a 2nd pair and def want to try the 1010s but from what i heard theyre a little more slick on the tread?
Definitely a slicker feeling bottom and going from 808 with the sole thickness the 1010 does feel a bit just less if that’s a way to describe it doesn’t feel as stable I guess. Tried putting on a 440 the other day since being 808 exclusive and felt like I was wearing slip ons it was so vastly different

If only those 600s didnt have the mesh, shit gets dirty so quick and the fantomfit tape or whatever is peeling up on my pair that are only a week old haven't even skated them yet.

If you mean something like this same thing is happening to me on my 1010 :(
Been skating them for like 2 weeks.
[close]

That happened on both pairs I've owned. The collar mesh also ripped on both pairs before I skated them, just from walking around for a week or two to the corner store and shit. I tried New Balance support on the first pair a few times and never got a response and didn't try again for the second pair because of that experience. I like the soles but it's weird how the mesh parts just rip from walking in them. I figured this was just a launch issue but my more recent black pair is suffering the same fate.

ive got a strange request..

can anyone hook it up with some 600 look down factor? These 288s arent gonna last forever and all the pictures ive seen of the 600 look like the shoes are tall (if that makes sense)

Ugh, I just checked and it looks like Australia didn't order any of the 440-hi's for Spring, Summer OR Fall 2024.  They don't range 100% of the line so it looks like they passed on these sadly for you.  NZ has a similar selection so no option for there either.  Sorry!  Wish I could help more here.

Wut? You mean across both the shoes? For real?

Wide 440v2’s in Black with White are up:

https://www.newbalance.com/pd/nb-numeric-440-v2/NM440V2-45403.html#dwvar_NM440V2-45403_style=NM440BNG&dwvar_NM440V2-45403_width=2E&pid=NM440V2-45403&quantity=1

Anyone skate these from the first drop? They weren't necessarily 'wide' based on expectations, right?

@rothdigga
Was the V2 High going to come in wide? I can't recall.

Yeah I think the interior/inner foot Ns are slightly smaller than the outer-foot ones (apparent in the negative space of the N) and mine are placed all out of order.

I might post a photo, but I also might not because it isn’t THAT big of a difference and I don’t want to highlight the little things like this that fry my brain, but it looked off to me straight out of the box

Ok so I've been skating my 808s exclusively for few weeks and it seems the collar/lining (?) part of the shoe has loosened quite a bit and while the rest of the shoe feels really firm and fitting, the collar/rear area feels like theres plenty of side movement for my foot that I dont really like. I really hope it is just the materials used in this colorway (blk/wht/red) because I have two pairs in different cw to be skated and really like the shoe. Anyone else experienced this? My last pair was 440 and it has less padding around heel and ankle and possibly has better/closer fit on that area because of that?

Had same thing with 808 first pair was good 2nd pair the inner lining felt loose and kinda gave me a blister… broke them in and seemed to go away haven’t really noticed since I’d say maybe thicker sock and try not to jam your foot in when putting shoe on as to stretch and loosen the collar/liner

I hope you can use some of this to get more utility out of your shoes. Pardon the rambling post.

I’ve skated quite a few pairs of different colors and materials. I’d like to share my experience as it relates to the heel area loosening.

For me, the first several sessions I rock them almost untied and it’s quite comfy and snug-fitting. As they break in, that area you described definitely loosens up, and the overall fit is affected. I actually like it when it loosens up, as I have an easier time popping my heel flips, for some reason.

Once it’s noticeably loosened, I incrementally tighten my laces from session to session. This seems to work out really well for me. By the end of their life, I’m using the top eyelet and doing the runner’s heel-lock lacing pattern that was posted on here awhile back. This does completely kill the aesthetics of the puffy-tongue thing because the tongues won’t poke out in front of your jeans. Its a shame: I like that look.

So far it seems to happen at different stages for different colors and materials, more quickly in the softer suede variants.

For me the 808s are great. However they do break-in over time, and their fit and performance does change. I skate daily, and it’s mostly curbs, ledges and flat. After 6 weeks they often feel blown-out or the soles are worn through. That’s when I heap praise upon the Almighty SLAP and its Sale Gear thread.

Wondering if anyone else has had similar problem coming from the 440v1 to 440v2. Have had about 10 pairs of the v1 all size 8 all fit perfect. Picked up a pair of the v2 and shoe fits great other than my toes being cramped from the topside down under the new toe cap. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem? Reached out to NB before purchasing the v2 to see if sizing and fit was the same and was told it was. Then asked them if i could do an exchange for larger size and was told i would have to return the smaller pair then buy the larger pair. Smh. 🤦 wish my local carried NB so i wouldnt have to do the will it fit will it not buy exchange run around. So was the sizing funky for everyone else?

I skated two pairs of the 440v2's and prolly 5-6 pairs of the v1's. I skated the v2 whites with the leather and the green all suede. Both v1 and v2 were both size 9. No alarming differences between the shoes fit. From what I hear is go up a half size in NB's. But I bought my first pair of 440's in my "true" size 9. They roomed up a lot when they broke in. But then I bought a pair of 480's in size 9. They were huge in the toe area. And then I bought another pair of the 480's a half size down and they fit perfect. Also recently 1010's I bought a half size down and they were snug but broke in good. Made me start thinking my actual shoe size is 8.5 and not 9.
We rode 7.5's" and didn't complain.

I bought the only 2 V2 Lo available. I notice that the green ones (all in suede) are much less stiff than the white ones (leather). Is that why? I kept the same size with no problems.

Got my first pair of 440 v1 lows today. Previously skated the highs and Im just happy how well these lows fit. I prefer these over the highs even though my ankles are pretty much done.
