Jason Jessee was repping that shit throughout his entire career, profiting off of straight up racist imagery, and hanging out with white power dudes.
Mike V being a dumbass in print 20 years ago sucks, but is extremely different than whats been coming up in the industry lately (unless there is more than what's already posted in this thread that I am unaware of/and he is actively racist).

I remember when this happened... almost immediately Mike V. put out a statement (i don't remember where.. transworld?) saying that the interview was bullshit; he was misquoted and some of it was flat out made up. Kareem Campbell called out the interview as being bullshit in the next issue of Big Bro, and a few other skaters came to Mike's defense.
No one on Big Brother ever refuted this, and since they were known to do shit like that all the time it was just assumed to be a made up interview. It's best to not take anything from Big Bro seriously, especially in that era and especially when it involved Mike V.

That interview is an interesting read, after hearing Ed's side of the story, of what happened with Mike and Television.
They asked Mike about Television and if he was still friends with Ed.
"I guess the main thing was that I could not keep a business relationship with Ed, and remain friends, so I wanted to end it, end the business relationship.But in doing that, it ended the friend relationship and I guess that was coming.Once Ed moved out and started Toy Machine with Vision, I tried to keep Television going on my own, with Jahmal, doing it out of my house, with all my own money, but it had no chance.
And I didn't feel that good about doing it, anyway, Ed wasn't there and the team wasn't there that we originally had, it wasn't really Television, anymore.At the time I had to cling to it 'cause I didn't really know what else to do."

Thanks for posting that text from the interview. Is the full thing anywhere? I'd love to read it all. I bought the Big Brother book but I don't think any full articles like that are in there.
On a related note, from Ed's Thrasher interview somewhere in 01 there's a section where he lists his skate buddies. From 1997-2001 Mike V is listed. I think they patched up things up. He also said in his Epicly Laterd that the Mike V that people see is totally different than the one he knows.

Not liking him should not entail changing history to suit. Mike V. put east coast street skating on the map during the mid-80s. He was the first big name street skater from the northeast, and one of the first true street skaters in general.
There were other guys like Bruno Muso, Jeremy Henderson (transplant from England?), and Rodney Smith, but never became big name pros. Unfortunately many New York guys like to downplay Mike V, even though he was one of the first to do real tricks on the Brooklyn Banks. I guess they don't like New Jersey and tend to also neglect to mention that Rodney Smith (Shut and Zoo York founder) was also from Jersey. Sure they were painting boards on Aly's roof, but they made the decks in Rodney's basement.
