I feel like this was discussed in another thread, but for the life of me I can't remember which one. Regardless, people who are on a company and have a pro model out on said company, don't just randomly start riding blanks. Something must be in the mix.

Doesn't feel like it but he's been on Toy Machine for 2 years and hasn't really done anything with the company outside his introduction part.
I'd say it's more likely than not he's jumped ship. Skating blanks without Toy stickers and the fact that Toy took him off their IG story highlights thing (they did the same to Provost and Blake Carpenter before they were officially of) is some Pepe Silvia dot connecting but it's what I'm running with.

Testing out shapes is a lot quicker on a blank than having a graphic put on it.

Some of the dudes with the best opinions on here have their reps in the shitter and some of the dudes with the most fucked and useless opinions have very high reps. If anything a negative rep means you're willing to stand up against and defy some of the stupid shit said on this forum.
With that said I feel like Dashawn is more of a Primitive or April kind of guy than a King kind of guy. Also I was under the impression that he has been of Toy for a while now, he never really fit their aesthetic anyways.

i dont really see any similarities between them other then they are both black.
Dashawn Jordan is grinding up handrails, i would say he is closer to brandon westgate / leo romero than tommy fynn. hardly anyone else is doing that and those other 2 i named are absolute legends and top of the game.
the way he does laser flip is actually really nice i dont really understand the hate. its a 360 flip that goes in the opposite direction and flips the opposite way. no one else is doing them nice like the way he does them. he basically invented a new way to do the trick, kinda like how bryan herman started doing hardflips and everyone started doing them "properly" all of a sudden after that. or how penny / reynolds started shiftying their kickflips.
he also has really good fs 270 to board i guess that is kind of a generic trick but still the way he does it is definintely different because he lands to regular - he has a really good fs 360 in general which is also not that common to see.

I have an inside source that told me when a bunch of Toy guys went to Baltimore to turn Myles pro everyone stayed at Myles parents house and crashed in the basement, Dashawn requested a hotel room.
I will also say that I met him at the after party and he was the nicest dude without a doubt.
And I will also say I don't hold anything against him for wanting a hotel room. We did a trip recently with the shop I ride for and the owner paid for a hotel room and everyone was invited. I'm old, I'm not sleeping on a floor, I am going to sleep when I want to go to sleep. I paid for my own room.

I don't think Toy was refusing to pay for hotels for everyone else. I think that Myles was going to stay with his parents and a bunch of the team is super close and stayed in Myles childhood home with him. Sort of like how people crash at Dan Lu's parents house when they are passing through there.

You are way off the mark with Leo or westgate. Grinding up rails is not uncommon these days.
Him and fynn are both jockey contest dudes, with their go to tricks but don’t really have much to bring to the table otherwise. Both very talented but just boring.

You are way off the mark with Leo or westgate. Grinding up rails is not uncommon these days.
Him and fynn are both jockey contest dudes, with their go to tricks but don’t really have much to bring to the table otherwise. Both very talented but just boring.

Would krooked be a weird fit? I dunno why but it keeps popping into my head. I think there's a reason he's on TM, maybe it fits his personality better than say King or whatever. That said krooked seems in a similar vein in certain ways to TM but has less of the baggage that comes with TMs current reputation.

Had never heard his music before but holy shit. This was some next level wack, with the voice reminiscing of an imbred baby. Does he sound like that when he speaks in real life or is it some autotune variant? My girlfriend was watching some teenage Brazilian series on Netflix and all the music sounded like that Dashawn tune, super embarrassing.

Just absolute bottom of the barrel, materialistic, fake it till you make it, LA wannabe influencer bullshit. For “art” that’s supposed to represent joy, it’s some of the most vapid, soulless, depressing I’ve ever seen or heard. All the comments gassing him up makes it even worse.

It's a huge theme of the book, and in the end he is able to overcome it because he is finally satisfied with his "role" or "karma" in life. Before he wasn't really living a fulfilling life, but most of all wasn't treating himself or others well. When he started to be kind, show actual care for others and his own well-being, he started feeling like a good person. And then he could finally look into his own eyes in the mirror.
At times in my life I have experienced the same, so maybe some of what I wrote is anecdotal. But one thing I've understood is that when I feel as though I'm not living right (mistreating others, lying, etc.) then I can't look into my eyes in the mirror and be okay with myself. Because I am not being the person I want to be. So It's kind of an internal dialogue that may even be subconscious that when I look into my own eyes in the mirror I am asking myself, are you who you want to be? Are you a good person?
And if the answer to that question is yes, then I have no problem with myself and therefore have no problem looking in the mirror.

Haha yeah and they parodied it on South Park. I think some shit he wrote was embellished but I don't think he faked a drug addiction. Either way the book still has nuggets of wisdom and applicable life lessons.
