Not hating but I do not get why people are liking the Shanahan shoe. Even when things aren't my cup of tea I can generally still understand why certain people would be into them but that shoe not so much. His legacy/metric combo thing looked a hundred times better.

when i saw clips of him skating them almost made me want to buy them but i'm a t shirt and jeans kind of guy, and you kinda need to look/dress like austyn to pull them off
they look good on him when he skates but almost no one else

Definitely, my homie skates a lot and the surplus lasted him 4 months. The insoles are the crowning jewels of the shoes.

the motley mid and appleyards shoe weren't that bad imo, other than that it was all complete dog shit

I see a lot of people skating the Globe Surplus and the mid top a lot. Insoles were very similar to State's from what I can remember when I had the Montano shoe. The sole got soft very quickly. Would not skate again.

Globe had some good designs for short while in the last 4 or so years that went under the radar:
Empire (modern athletic cupsole - similar to Etnies Windrow)
Octave & Octave Mid
Encore (they brought it back and modernized the shape)
Don't know if they make Empire or Octave anymore but the Encore is simple good looking vulc with some padding

I’m with ya. Saw a pair of the all black distressed suede on sale. Wore them around for a minute, really comfortable and felt cool but didn’t look right in jeans.
Just couldn’t do it, a little too fashion forward for me and I can just picture them sitting in my closet next to the other shoes I’ll never wear.

The blue ones that come out on August 5 were posted in the upcoming show thread, but I didn’t see these, which come out on August 25.
I don’t understand why these are $130 while Kader’s are $110. Is the material more expensive or does he just get fat royalties? If he used synthetic suede like Emerica or New Balance, non-vegans would probably be interested too.

I don’t think it’s a material cost. Probably just a production cost. They do millions of leather pro models, so having to cut and sew and bunch of plastic is probably is probably a pain that cost more.

Pretty sure they aren't the same shoes as the kaders. I think the sole construction is a little different, closer to the superstar 80s (or that's what I read about his low versions that came out the other year)

Didn't Vans have a collab w/ Peanuts a couple of years back? Even that soured me on Peanuts (or, rather, the company who prostitutes their estate), but this is far worse. At least with Vans one could argue that it's a huge global brand and both parties would have a financial gain through non-core customers. But with Cariuma? I'm completely in the dark about their numbers, but it doesn't seem that they got a huge piece 9f core-customer pie, while they're basically non existant in the mainstream. Maybe it's different stateside?

I actually think the biggest offence on those is the skinny ass laces for such a huge shoe. It just doesn’t go together at all… D3s on its own is a fun shoe and I can see the appeal to a certain type (non-slap heads of course).

I work and live in a relatively larger city in the metro area of a massive city. I've seen a lot of "skate" shoes and have a great eye for spotting shoes, I've seen all of the trendy puff shoes like the Campus 00s, Knu Skool, Club C Bulc, Adimatic, ect. I've seen big poofy etnies shoes in the last week. I've even seen the One Nine 7 on a few people's feet. I have never seen a single pair of D3 in the wild and have never met anyone who owned a pair.

One of my best friends girlfriend wears a Triple Black/gum outsole pair of D3 all the time and they look pretty damn cool on her tbh. I guess it goes together quite well with her thrifted/vintage style and the tiny feet always makes shoes look cute, but yeah, not an everybody's shoe of course.

maybe because I'm, not in California or new york. I know those places have their trend bubbles. I work at a college in a major city and don't see the D3s. Courts, Calicut, puffy Adidas, knu skools, even the puffy strayes, sure, but d3 are rare to non existent.

If I remember correctly, everyone I knew was pissed about these because they just wanted more vulc blazer lows. I think Nike had released the black/white blazer lows and then kinda stopped for a bit.

If I remember correctly, everyone I knew was pissed about these because they just wanted more vulc blazer lows. I think Nike had released the black/white blazer lows and then kinda stopped for a bit.
Still got a pair of these actually wore them the other day and they still haven't broken in. My memory is they were after the blazer boom

I've always wanted a Blazer mid on a cupsole that had a similar look to it's vulc version, but didn't look too cupsole-ey if that makes sense.

Had a few pairs of these and I will say.. They were SO fucking good. But I do love a mid top cupsole court style shoe. The og cons pro leather with the lunarlon was god tier.

there were at least 2 other color ways that i remember. a black with white swoosh and gum sole and then a royal blue with black swoosh and white sole.i loved the black with orange swoosh.

Some dad actually came in to our shop wearing these and from the front of the store I thought he was wearing 808s then i had to squint and figure out what I was looking at and my head actually recoiled in surprise when I saw them. Looked them up after and they were selling them online at West49 for $30 regular price on sale for $15 ahahah. Was gonna link them but they're not up anymore.

These have been out for months. Don’t see what’s particularly lame about it. 808 x 808 is a fun/harmless collab. The shoe box is realllly fucking cool too
