Can't wait to watch this. Love Chandler and everything he does.

" I think everybody shuts the fuck up when they see me skating "

im sorry but i truthfully do not think he’s had long enough of a career to warrant an EL. with that said, i’ll watch and see if it changes my mind
-
Much love for Chandler. Nice watch
-
Chandler is so fucking dope. I'm glad he got to do this but bummed it was only 20 minutes. Wish it was longer.
-
Sick backside flips! Didn’t know a single thing about this guy, but that made me a fan, gonna go look up some more of his skating.
-
Chandler rules just wish his boards had smaller wheelbases
-
How about that fucking collapse at 1:05? Looked like he got shot. Very impressive whatever the hell that was.
-
Excited to watch this and seeing something different in a format we’re comfortable with….

Epically Laterd isn’t meant to be the Hall of Fame introductory video. This is what it should be for

It’s a popular move within that community. It’s called “voguing”. Always bewildered me because my leg would snap doing it.

well aware of its purpose, but there’s many more people who should have one before chandler. but then again never cared for his skating

I'd like to know what he's thinking too. Also, vkid did you miss the part of the video where O'Dell explained how the original series wasn't meant to cover "legends," just interesting people who were skating at the time?

Complete opposite for me , ran into him at Chevy chase with my buddy from out of town one evening and ended up spending more time chatting with him(them?) than skating . Chandler is a boss and super nice, classic skatepark homie vibes .

Exactly , I feel people forget that first season had just everyday pros - Jerry and Spanky had just had their first super big parts with bag of suck and baker 3 and then you also had Alex Olson and figgy who wouldn’t have their debut parts til like 6 months to a year later. And I think pops or Gino was in that season too. So maybe one more mysterious/legend pro? But it always just the more standout personality people in skating since pat was more friends with a lot of skaters at the time than he was a photographer in skating

Yeah please let's have ten more straight white cali bros who founded beer/board companies or became TMs or whatever. Has Mikey Taylor ever had one? PRod? Dyrdek? Berra? Provost? Dear god, the potential for boredom is endless. Thinking of cali bros who founded companies tho, Raven Tershy could be an all time episode. But 2024 VICE ain't going anywhere near that type of potential controversy.
Chandler's is a story well worth telling and I'm curious to see if O'Dell can do it justice.

Kinda wild how much hate this got — kinda makes you realize how homophobic people still are. This was sick, Chandler rips and brings a different perspecitve that clearly doesn't translate to the 40% of our country that is ass-backwards. Which is pretty punk rock. Snowflakes indeed.

Excellent episode.

Isn’t he one of the more influential pros of the last decade? Any of the kids from cherry really. I feel like there is a pretty good story there.

Patrick explains his decision in the intro to the episode. Max just had a Pocket Followed, which is pretty similar or enough that I'm fine with them choosing a less known skater that brings a different story and perspective to the table.

I always sort of felt that “there” came from a play on “they/them/their” but it never made sense why “there” would be chosen over “their”. I’m kind of glad that they didn’t get to the bottom of it. Maybe it’s a statement on titles being meaningless. The graphics are great and I think it’s really cool that Deluxe distributes them. Still haven’t had one yet.
-
What a dope EL episode. My only complaint is that I wish it had been 5-10 minutes longer so that they could’ve gone into more detail about There. Fingers crossed for a Marbie episode down the road.

Maybe it’s like, they’re there whether or not you approve? “Here” would have made more sense if that’s the case but we also have companies named frog, pizza & hockey so who fuckin knows.

I think it could be a play on they/them/their as well as a self othering sentiment that comes from being cast out in a way. Like y’all are over here doing your thing, and we are over there, away from you and your conventions. Just a thought, idk for sure obviously. Great episode nonetheless!

If you really have to wonder why he got an episode.. then I suggest you hit that rewind button to where Chandler says that maybe if he had seen that there were queer skaters being true to themselves when he was younger, he wouldn’t have struggled with his identity and maybe even his addictions as well.. I don’t know, sounds more deserving than “Remember my Nike shoe?”

Yeah the episode is cool not against it at all, theres just bunch of people I would've expected to see before this.

Stoked on this one. Met chandler at slow impact this year and he was the sickest, super nice and real genuine. Absolutely rips too.
-
I really like his skating. My buddy just bought a Chandler There deck and had never seen his skating, was just a fan of the artist. I sent him his last part and he was super stoked on it, and to be riding his board.

identity crisis or nike shoe. im sorry but i see which one holds more weight in the realm of professional skateboarding
-
Chandler is awesome! Doing Death Drops (that's the move, where he collapses - voguing is a style of dance, where you go from pose to pose to pose... and including a death drop in your voguing usually results in a lot acknowledging woo-hoos, whenever I've been to burlesque/drag/whatever-else-type-of-night-that-might-involve-voguing) and some of the greatest bs flips found these days is a direct route to my heart <3 Love that EL focuses a bit more on the underground side of skateboarding again.

Still haven't watched the episode but from following Chandler it's pretty clear that calling what he's gone through an "identity crisis" should be bannable, unless Nollie Tre dumbfuck took it further and that's been deleted? Anyway, don't y'all "more deserving candidates" parrots at some point notice that you always do this when it's about some kind of minority person? I mean I love Ryan Lay but by what skate industry standard is he more deserving of an EL than Tyshawn or whoever? At least be fucking honest about your queerphobic moron agendas. Fuck off to the Tim Pool compound.

Re: death drop // moving on from idiot
Always thought the name referred to the terrifying act, but then I realized that the way people land in the move is how it looks when someone falls to their death on a tv show (one leg bent ever so awkwardly back)
-
EL can put on whoever they find to have the more interesting story to tell, and chandler's story is way more interesting then a variation of: "got a board when i was a kid, skated every day, found friends, found a shoe sponsor, got a pro model, now im financially independent."
I like that EL is moving on from just doing legacy guys, modern skateboarding has way more guys who are currently killing it and have more interesting stories that cover topics and angles of skateboarding that havnt been retread 100 times

I'd never heard of Chandler at all before seeing him at Glory Challenge. Right away, he stood out. He looked like a witch, or an elf, some fantastical alien creature. The idea that he was in drag didn't occur to me, he just looked really cool. He was skating with so much power and abandon, super consistent but always on the edge like cardiel. It felt fresh.
I wish the episode would have gone further into his life off the board, it felt like o'dell didn't really hang out with him much.

I thought this was a really good episode. O'dell made a good point that the original Epicly Later'd's weren't so focused on "legends only" and definitely weren't as long. I think they were like 9 minutes long actually. So it's cool to see him playing around with different types of skaters and shorter lengths.

Buddy does the same fucking tricks all the time. Forward flip has to be the worse flip trick ever and he spams that shit
this was the one thing that bothered me. him saying that skateboarding has been the same thing for 30 years and that it’s all just people skating the same shit doing the same tricks, then kind of suggesting that he is apart of adding diversity to skating in that manor is a bit annoying. as mentioned, nobody liked when darrell or anyone else did dolphin flips. i don’t remember anyone being that stoked on romar’s nollie bs 360s either. i get what he means in the sense of lgbtq skaters being more accepted now which he is apart of and is cool but, don’t sit there and turn it into the actual act of skating itself has been the same stale thing for decades and that you’re making it more exciting by doing dolphin flips/nollie bs 360s… good for him though that he’s getting his shine and has his place in skating.
