yeah, my girlfriend works for a company that supplies oil rigs and she told me today that they are already starting to pull all of the workers out of there, so even if the hurricane goes somewhere else its still going to effect production for a little while.

Is Atlanta under any threat from that other storm?

not yet.
My work is closed monday for labor day, and tuesday for the storm.
I'm coming back wedsnesday and hopefully will have a house still.
I'm too worried about flooding, bc Laplace is not known for flooding.
But I am worried about wind damage to my house bc I have a 2 story
You can kinda see my house behind the car. lol

Cat 3 in the water and Cat 2 upon landfall... lame, but at least it's not hitting land as a 3!

I'm also hearing some word on another projected path that says the storm may be heading a little more west... careful Texas heads. I know Texas and Louisiana National Guards are on standby. Here are the most up to date projections from Weather Underground:

Yeah Traffic eastbound out of town isn't moving, almost all the stores on the east  side of town are closed or closing in the next 30 minutes. I got my supplies, mad water, can goods, batteries , whatever. The National Guard is already protecting Drug stores and whatnot.
I'm going down to the quarter i have a few spots there that i can hold it down at, also Philly and Eric both said they're staying.
Talk to ya'll whenever i get internet back.

hopefully its not so bad when it gets to the end of the blue line.
shouldn't be, usually they are real bad where they touch down but they lose strength almost immediately. the problem it causes for coastal cities is the storm surge. On the coast Of Mississippi where katrina was really bad the beach front was completely destroyed cuz of the surge but 4 blocks in where the land rose up wasn't too bad, then a couple of miles further in look like it had very little damage at all.
I was in Baton Rouge for Katrina and that isn't that far away from new orleans and it just seemed like a long kinda bad thunderstorm.

I have more gas in my shed than the Chevron down the street from me... I filled up 25 gallons worth last night, and now the store's out. I'm guessing all the other places are getting hit pretty hard with travelers and truckers too.

I also saw the longest line at a pharmacy I've ever seen in my life... luckily I was there for something else.

Edited to add the most recent trajectory forecast:

we had the worst storm in twenty years two nights ago in phoenix.

the story says that winds in my neighborhood nearly reached 100mph.  it was also around 100º during the day.

oh yeah, what's really funny about this story is where it talks about the athletics center that ASU lost.  they just finished building it this month, and it was an eight and a half million dollar project.  the primary feature was that it was supposed to allow full climate control.  god loves irony.

Hammond and most of the surrounding areas are pretty much shut down... I just took a quick spin around and all the gas stations are dry:

Hammond's also out of batteries, water, bread, canned edibles, and all kinds of shit. There is a calm before the storm though... hoping to get a session in at Dreamland after a couple more cups of coffee. If I can get my video camera to work I'll try to film some wind action tomorrow and/or Tuesday.

I got back about two hours ago from a 5 hour hot-as-balls session with a bunch of the locals... good shit.

We're also seeing some weather, it's little bands that go from light rain, to heavier rain, to no rain, then wind, then randomness. It ain't hurricane level yet, but you can definitely feel a tension. I wish it wasn't so fucking hot... can't run the generator until the storm is over (our power's on now, but it will go out since it just takes regular storm to knock us). Glad as fuck we got one though... we're going to run a window unit off of it.

Uh oh.  CNN is reporting that the lower 9th ward is going to be under water again.  The footage they're showing isn't looking too good.
yeah they way over sensationalized that bullshit, first of all they had the sides all wrong the water was actually going into the upper 9
and if those morons really thought the wall was gonna break would hey be standing right next to it filming it and giving reports.
If that wall wouldve broken with them there they would all be dead. The National guard and corp of engineers would've booted them if there was real danger. But the fucked part is when the corp rebuilt the wall in the Lower 9 they made it 19 ft tall but the one on the upper 9 is still 15 ft tall so if the industrial canal got filled up it wuld push all the water into the upper 9 towards the Quarter protecting a neighborhood with a population of about 500 people. smart.

I ended up in Panama City, Fl at a friends house.
Wont be home until the weekend.

Not sure if my house is ok, but i'm hoping so.

And the best part is... this is on Tyndall Air Force Base. My friend who Iam staying with is in the Air Force and also a skateboarder, so he brought me here.

just got back.  that was a fun little exile in hell (aka my moms house in the middle of bumfuck nowhere).  i found out one of her goats likes to piss in his own mouth, so it wasn't a total loss.

We just got power a few hours ago... fucking stoked on that. I never got activated for LA DHS, which is good because I got to be home with the wife.

Props to Briggs and Stratton... we bought a decent generator right after Katrina, but I never oiled it or ran it, so for years it just sat there in a beat up old shed. The day before the storm I filled it all up and it cranked to a steady idle the first try. 5 gallons = somewhere around 13 hours, which is pretty good compared to my neighbors'.

Also, super stoked that I was able to shave... I can't shave without hot water or I'll rip off my face, and I also hate not being clean shaven (sans the occasional shadow). After 3-9 days, I fee like I have stinging ants on me every time I get hot or turn my head.
