I bought a zero board for the first time since 07 back in 2024 just to see how it skated (it was alright, 5/10) but I haven’t seen anyone who is actually aware of the overall culture skate one in years. My stepson’s dad bought one last year but he’s a “I used to skate” Christian type so he got the board with the cross in it.
I wouldn’t say Zero is even top ten most relevant board brand, they exist on legacy more than anything.

I wouldn’t say Zero is even top ten most relevant board brand, they exist on legacy more than anything.
We’re kind of insulated here on slap. I’d wager the majority of active skaters are beginners, old heads, teens who only skate with each other or just random people who skate a few times a month and don’t follow or care about most of the industry shit we dissect and analyze. I was at a very crowded skatepark last weekend and was thinking about the different demographics in skateboarding. The amount of people I saw skating that presented themselves as “core” skaters were maybe 10%

That is not entirely accurate
There is 1 series on the website of decks that sold out. Tons of boards that have been sitting on there for ages though like those misfits decks.
If you think about it, there is no point for the company to leave a sold out item on the website, other than as a marketing tool to communicate to the user that people actually do buy their items. In the past, most skate shops would just remove the item once it was out of the system, only recently you will notice companies have started to do this.
My local did have some zero boards, and they are all gone, except a Bam one (actually kinda surprised that one wasnt the first one to go). there are a decent amount of those guys who skated 20 years ago getting back into it now. No one is buying the $120 Shorty's decks though.
As far as a "Zero rider being in top 3 of every SLS":
Who besides Kairi Netsuke has ever even been in SLS? And he isnt even pro for Zero... had 1 video part when he got on in 2022 and then nothing ever since. When is the last time he was even in the top 5? Not saying he is not an incredible skater and definitely worth mentioning, but quite a long way off from "A Zero Rider being in top 3 of every SLS".

Conversations are fun with data. I quickly gathered some data and did so rather sloppily so there could very well be errors.
(I think) I was able to download CCS's deck inventory and (I know) I was able to do a simple count of listings on Cowtown's website. Cowtown has more listings and CCS has more Zero decks that I would have guessed.
Is this unsold inventory that was purchased off of Zero's legacy rather than their reality? Does this represent a back stock because there is consistent demand for a legacy company still making money? Not sure, however, I would hope CCS at least has a professional buyer who can do math to predict customer behavior and doesn't just go off their gut like a small shop might, but who knows what goes on behind the scenes.
I can't remember seeing a Zero board in the wild recently, but maybe it is on me.

I’ve noticed an influx of youth wearing and skating Zero. Add that Bam guest board to the mix, he still sells out product. I’d imagine Kanaan Dern funnels some sales via his YouTube channel too. Seems like they have a presence in South America and Japan. It’s not something I’d personally ride, haven’t bought one in 20+ years. It’s probably not doing crazy numbers either, like mentioned it’s most likely limited runs. But just because it’s not cool to you or your homies or most people on here doesn’t mean it’s dead yet. The skull logo is classic and recognizable, love it or hate it.

If you look at Zumiez decks page you can filter best selling. Baker, Zero, and DGK seem to be the majority on the first page of 60 decks. Few other brands in there like Real, There, Hockey, Plan B, even a Jart and Rip & Dip.

The shop owners must be time travelers, because I think most stopped ordering Zero boards a decade ago.
Like, I don't think anyone under the age of 35 cares about Zero and not many people above the age 35 are really spending money on boards.

It's actually hilarious how confidently out of touch you are. Zero is huge with the zoomer crowd because it fits the whole edgy Y2K aesthetic that's popular now. I've talked to multiple shop employees in different shops that say zero boards sell fast and that it's primarily the 13-17 y/o crowd buying them.
Typical jit setup these days at least from what I've observed at parks would be a Zero deck, some Affliction style zip up hoodie (worn ironically maybe? Idk at this point, I'm not in the loop enough), maybe a Slipknot shirt, baggy jorts, and shoes vary but maybe like some Knu Skools or Half Cabs.
No joke I saw a zero cross deck at the skatepark and the kid prob about 15-17 had the exact outfit you described. Affliction looking hoodie dumb big ass pants and I think they was vans knu schools. I literally thought it was a hand me down deck for a school program or something. I told my girlfriend I think the local school near the park must have started a skate club or something and was gonna offer hand me down decks because I thought surely no one is skating a zero in the year 2026.

I was trying to explain why the “core” skate community really doesn’t fuck with Zero anymore and some dude came at me with “um actually the new Sheckler Zero board sold out 3 preorders”. So I said the only people buying that shit are either extremely out of touch or dumbass conservatives against “cancel culture”. Dude replied saying “actually bro you’re wrong I bought a Sheckler Zero and my homies still skate Zero you seem like you’re the one who’s out of touch with the culture”. So I went to his profile and his most recent post was a very excited “look at my vans pickup from the outlet!” And it was literally a haul of neon palm tree vans outlet t shirts and multi colored clown shoe vans lmao he couldn’t have proved my point any harder if he tried.
I don’t want to be a bully but holy fuck redditor normies make it hard not to be mean sometimes.

It hurts a little to see this shop carry that shit because I’ve spent a lot of money there in the past month.
As much as I dislike it, it’s kind of smart to pander to Christians since the majority of skateboarders are under 18, and parents are usually the ones paying for their kids. Parents will buy their kids Zero gear with crosses and those Kyle Walker “Luminary” trucks, without knowing anything about the companies or whoever’s name is on the product.
